Did the Super Bowl woke you up?

Super Bowl Sunday’s 22-25 loss disappointed 49ers fans. But in Nancy Pelosi’s hometown of San Francisco, that wokest of woke cities, there was reason for cheer.

For one, Bud Light was back in force, pulled across our TV screens once again by a team of hardy Clydesdales. No, a transgender influencer did not ride them but the once-leading brand’s re-emergence from MAGA banishment must surely have troubled those who hoped it was gone for good.

But who knows? Maybe it troubles them more that the backlash to All-American Bud Light’s woke 2023 commercial has pushed Mexican-sounding Modelo Especial into the best-seller position. (Don’t tell them but Modelo, like Corona, is owned by Constellation Brands of New York.)

Probably even more needling for the MAGA masses, though: Pfizer – the pharma giant of COVID vaccination fame – stormed the field Sunday with a “Here’s to science” commercial. That’s a Fauci ouchie for you.

Now, maybe they took some relief from the absence of Biden co-conspirator Taylor Swift from the broadcast during the game’s first quarter. But the libs in the director’s booth couldn’t help themselves. They cut to her more than a dozen times after that, concluding with a shot of her giving her boyfriend, Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce, a victory kiss ON THE LIPS moments after KC won the game. Gross!

Well, every game has its winners and losers, of course. And this just wasn’t Team MAGA’s year. But maybe we can put this woke game to bed and hope Super Bowl LVIX plays down the clock next year without undue politics. Now that would be a Cinderella story.
