Let Hamas call for two-state solution

-

I’d like to respond to President Biden’s recent demand to Israel for a two-state solution with the Palestinians. The clearly stated goal of Israel in responding to the Oct. 7 attack, which Biden seemed to support at the time, was to remove Hamas from power and rescue all the hostages. Neither goal has been achieved yet but each of them is within the grasp of Israel. It is the worst time for Biden to make demands that would pose a threat to these goals.

The Palestinians were offered and rejected the two-state solution in 2000 and 2005, despite Saudi Arabia encouraging them to accept. The Palestinian Liberation Authority still does not want it. Hamas goes further, calling for the elimination of Israel and all Jews. Since no one is willing to accept the state of Israel, or will even come to the table at this point to negotiate a two-state solution on behalf of the Palestinians, it seems that Biden, along with the international community, is asking for a fantasy to come true. It is a dangerous request. It would be a continuation of the failed appeasement policies of the Biden administration that could result in future terrorist atrocities. Harold I.
