Adult writers of fiction invited to attend twice monthly meetings of the Phoenix Fiction Writers at the library. Free. Group meets second Thursday and third Tuesday of each month from 6:30to 9 p.m. in the library’s Harrop Room. Led by Eric Parmer, offering local writers education, empowerment and constructive criticism. Writers ask questions about the writing process, read work out loud and receive/offer input on material read. Writers wishing to have their work critiqued should submit to Eric before each meeting. This annual Adult Summer Reading Program runs June 20to Aug. 19, open to all Chester County Library System cardholders age 18or over. Read any book or eBook, or listen to any audiobook, from any Chester County library or the OverDrive eMedia catalog. Then come to the library, check in your items or present your list of eMedia checkouts. Complete a book review card for each item and be entered automatically into a weekly raffle for a gift card. Children’s Library at Phoenixville Public Library
have begun and run through Aug. 12. The theme this year is sports and fitness. There are three levels of programs. Early Literacy is for birth through ages 4⁄5, for kids read to by someone else; On Your Mark, Get Set... Read! is for kindergarten through grade 5, for independent readers; and Get in the Game-Read is for grades 5 through 12. Register and pick up materials. Kids earn incentives and chances toward prizes based on reading.
