Communitie­s host events for National Night Out

National Night Out is returning next week to help communitie­s foster relationsh­ip with local law enforcemen­t.

The events take place all across the country on the first Tuesday of August and are planned for several local areas as well. In previous years, the events have featured things such as free food, games and lots of one on one time with local police officers.

National Night Out events are scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 2.

Here is a look at some of the events planned in the area:

Phoenixvil­le

• Grace Crossing Community Church, 248 Church Street, will host this year’s National Night Out event. Residents will be able to meet police, local fire fighters, dive rescue and get tips on staying safe. Games, instructio­nal booths

and more will also be available at the event.

Royersford

• First United Church of Christ, 367 Washington Street, is hosting Royerford’s National Night Out event. There will be free food, entertainm­ent, activities and a variety of first responder vehicles on display. Limerick Police will be joining the event at 5:30 p.m. and will have display table and bike patrol. The department will also be bringing along K9 Flynn for the fun.

Pottstown

• Members of Trinity UCC, 60 N. Hanover Street will hold an event on their front sidewalk and lawn from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. It will feature music, fun, games, prizes, and face painting as well as high- light informatio­n on community events and programs. Tours of the church will be offered. In addition, there will be free hot dogs, popcorn, soft pretzels, water, and Rita’s Water Ice.

• A community block party will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday August 2 at Washington and Chestnut Street Park. The event will offer games, food music and free informatio­n on community resources.
