Phantom cross country sweeps Pottstown

Boys cross country

Pottstown’s Khalif Burgess finished with a race-best 18:48 but the Phantoms prevailed as a team in a Pioneer Athletic Conference meet on Sept. 21.

Zack Kleppe (18:53) and Kerry Halloran (19:39) rounded out the top three finishers as Phoenixvil­le claimed seven of the 10 top times. Josh Geary took fourth for Pottstown with a time of 19:52.

Jacob McKenna edged Shane Ainscoe at the finish line to lead the Rams’ PAC victory over the Vikings.

McKenna’s 16:37 clocking topped Ainscoe by three seconds. Behind them, SF took the next eight spots, led by Patrick Power’s third-place finish in 16:44.

Girls cross country

The Phantoms crossed eight of the race’s top 10 finishers in a PAC meet on Sept. 21.

Natalee Serwatka led the way, finishing up at 21:02 — over a minute ahead of the field — with Victoria Wright taking second at 22:59 and Emma Visnov close behind at 23:00. Yuliza Cruz led Pottstown with a fourth-place finish at 23:32.

Annie Glodek continued her winning ways for the Vikings in their PAC victory over the Rams.

Glodek covered the Spring-Ford course in 18:03, more than a halfminute ahead of the 18:36 Bella Marchini clocked for the Rams. Teagan Scheinbeck­er (18:37) and Michelle Daniels (18:50) went 3-4 for the Vikes ahead of SF’s Gabbie Bamford coming in fifth (18:52).

Boys soccer

Germann Larmond scored in the fourth minute on a feed from Tyler Rolando as the Falcons held off the Vikings in a Pioneer Athletic Conference crossover matchup on Sept. 19.

Pottsgrove outshot Perk Valley 12-5 with Liam Abdalla making four saves in the win. Andrew Daubenspec­k finished with nine stops in the PV goal.

Neither team could get anything across during the extra periods as the Rams and Vikings finished in a draw on Sept. 19.

Spring-Ford struck twice in the opening half as Michael Hyduke scored twice. Kyle Allan made four saves while SF outshot UM 13-6. Lorenzo Mancino and Trevor Looby each scored with an assist from Josue Perez. Dylan Castillo and Kyle Roberts combined for nine saves in goal for Upper Merion.

Adam Styer scored the decider in the 78th minute off a redirected pass into the far corner from Max Chamorro to lead Perk Valley past Upper Merion in a PAC cross-divisional match on Sept. 21.

MikeWeir got PV on the board in the 20th minute before Tim Biegalski and UM responded 16 minutes into the second half. Andrew Daubenspec­k made three saves in the win.

Scoring all three of their goals in the second half, the Golden Panthers roared past the Eagles in a PAC cross-divisional match.

Nick DiPietro and David Lattanze each scored a goal with Andrew Snyder picking up a pair of assists. PJP’s first score came off an own goal to start the second half. Trevor Rambo, Vince DeLisi and Mike Realbuto each scored as the Warriors topped the Phantoms in a league crossover on Sept. 21.

Trevor Taylor, Aidan O’Leary and DeLisi each registered an assist for Methacton, which received five-save goalkeepin­g from Mason LeSage.

Colin Hook scored for the Phantoms. Mitchell Coll made seven saves in the loss.
