Girls tennis

The Phantoms swept through the doubles bracket on their way to a PAC win over the Vikings on Sept. 26.

Allison Newman posted a 6-0, 6-0 decision at second singles as the Vikings swept the Bears in a PACmatch.

Jasmine Morris took a 6-3, 6-2 decision at first singles while Nadja Townsend closed out the singles bracket with a 6-3, 6-4 decision. PV’s Sabina Brzozowski/Angelina Gizzio won 6-1, 6-2 at first doubles.

Tori Alexander posted a 6-0, 6-3 decision at first singles to set the tone in the Rams’ nonconfere­nce win over the Golden Hawks.

Kathryn Alvarez posted a 6-2, 6-4 win at second singles as Spring-Ford swept through doubles play. Sonal Tyagi/Bianca Caresosa posted an impressive 6-0, 6-0 win at second doubles.

The first pairing of Emma Cieszkowsk­i and JordanGumb­y posted a 6-0, 6-0 decision in the match’s lone doubles set as the Rams downed the Eagles in a PAC match on Sept. 27.

Rachel Reiniger won 6-1, 6-1 at first singles while Erin Regan and Pranavi Chamarti each posted singles victories.

A sweep of the doubles bracket proved more than sufficient for the Phantoms to come away with victory over the Falcons in their PAC pairing on Sept. 27.

Phoenixvil­le’s best individual showing was the 6-0, 6-2 win Olivia Dick and Kelsey Cummings scored at third doubles. UP’s point came at third singles, where Maddy Gochnauer was a 6-2, 6-1 winner.

Gianna Epps and Alivia Lopez scored points in singles play for the Trojans, who came up short of the Vikings in their PAC match.

Epps scored a 7-5, 6-1 victory at first singles, with Lopez rebounding from a 7-5 first-set loss to prevail 7-6, 7-5.

The Warriors completed their regular-season schedule with a shutout of their neighborin­g PAC rivals on Sept. 28.

The best individual showing forMethact­on (101) was its first-doubles team of Katie Benson and Sydney Thompson posting a 6-0, 6-0 win. PV’s best was Allison Newman at second singles, who extended Tina Prince to three sets.

Boys Soccer

Nathan Alban got the Rams on the board in the 12th minute with a header off a Chase Parr corner to kick-start a victory over the Eagles on Sept. 24.

Michael Hyduke continued his scoring streak in the 15th minute with a far post finish off an Alban assist. Ronnie Minges scored two goals both assisted by Hyduke. Christian Djilo and Nick Glonek also added to the result with a penalty kick and finish from another Parr corner kick.

On Sept. 28, Phantom goals were scored by Andre Souza, Phil Meszaros, Greg Flamma, Patricio Perez, Colin Hook, and Danny Jackson. Two assists came from Andre Souza, and one assist from Arun Sankar. Mitchell Coll kept the clean sheet with three saves.

Tyler Holms’ hat trick keyed the Rams’ potent offense as they rolled over the Eagles in PAC action.

Holms, who was also credited with an assist, was followed in the scoring column by Ronnie Minges (one assist), Michael Hyduke and Johnny Guimaraes. Nathan Alban (two), Chase Parr and Nick Murphy were credited with other assists for Spring-Ford, which outshot Norristown by a 12-0 margin.

Girls soccer

The Phantoms settled for a non-conference tie with the Big Red after two overtime periods on Sept. 24.

Sophia Kopko scored off Dakota Graham’s corner kick in the 10th minute, but Souderton soon equalized on a Sara Cassel goal. Yadira Cruz made seven saves for Phoenixvil­le.

Gabrielle Perrotto scored the Phantoms’ lone goal in a non-conference loss against the Cardinals on Sept. 26.

Two goals from Mack Mitchell and another from Gabby Kane lifted the Rams to the nonleague victory on Sept. 26. Kane and Devin Rawley were credited with assists.

Dakota Graham’s goal in the 50th minute lifted the Phantoms to victory over the Indians in their PAC pairing.

Jessie Fisher scored in the second minute to give UP an early lead, but Gabrielle Perrotto pulled Phoenixvil­le even in the 39th minute. The Phantoms got four-save goaltendin­g from Yadira Cruz while Hannah Landis (four saves) and Rachel Morelli (two) shared time in the Indian cage.

Mack Mitchell and Kelly Franz each scored twice as the Rams made easy work of their PAC foe on Sept. 28.

Alayna Gairo, Devin Rawley, Lily Nowakowski and Ella Curry all scored while Shannon Dougherty, Ally O’Connor, Rawley, Curry each added assists. Alex Hyduke recorded the shutout in net.

Field hockey

The Trojanswer­e able to keep the Vikings off the board through the first seven minutes before PV’s offense got into rhythm to take a PACcrossov­erwin on Sept. 28.

Taylor Hamm scored twice while Liz Tarbet had a goal and an assist as PV outshot Pottstown 22- 2. Abby Bergman, Alyssa Dunne, Gabby Spurlock and Kelly Battinger each added solo tallies while Sabrina Roberto made two saves to preserve the shutout.

Boys golf

Ben Pochet and Jack Straub shot oneunder-par 35s at Turtle Creek to head the Rams’ PAC victory over the Vikings on Sept. 27.

Spring-Ford’s five low scorers checked in with sub-40 rounds. UM’s best individual was Martin Crowe, who had a 47.

Caleb Ryan carded a match-low 33 for the Eagles, but Ben Pochet and the Rams’ depth proved to be too much in a PAC match at Turtle Creek (Par 36).

Pochet shot a 1-under 35 while Jon Lumley and Jack Wilson each finished up at 38. Connor Boham and Chase Armor rounded out the Spring-Ford scorecard with a pair of 39s.

Girls Volleyball

The Vikings won their own tournament on Sept. 24, going 8-0 on the day.

Perkiomen Valley racked up wins over Quakertown, Germantown Academy, Souderton and Academy Park before going on to beat Souderton in the semifinals. Their tournament concluded with a 2-1 decision over Archbishop Wood in the final. Ellie Min posted 76 assists and 23 digswhileH­elena Clauhs had 30 kills, seven aces and 23 digs. Sarah Straub added 23 kills while Adrianna Lattanzi had 40 digs.

The Rams swept their PAC duel with the Phantoms by set scores of 25-9, 25-18 and 25-10.

Phoenixvil­le’s game leaders were Tessa Lochetto (14 digs), Kayla Grammersto­rf (two aces, five blocks) and Romina Broglia (two aces, four kills, four digs).

The Vikings won their PAC match with the Warriors after spotting their hosts a 25-22 first set. PV came back to run the table 25-21, 29-27 and 25-18.
