The two highest ranking members of the Spring-Ford Area School Board switched roles Monday night.

During its annual reorganization meeting, the school board chose Joe Ciresi as board president and Tom DiBello as vice president.

“I’m happy to lead the board, to continue moving Spring-Ford forward and represent our students, staff and community,” Ciresi said in a press release.

Board members Mark Dehnert and ToddWolf dissented by voting for board member Kelly Spletzer over Ciresi. Additionally, Dehnert was the sole dissenter against choosing DiBello, instead voting for board member Dawn Heine. Dehnert said he was chose Spletzer and Heine because he wanted to see a female board member take a leadership position for a change.

Ciresi, his wife Pam and their son, Danny, live in Limerick where they purchased a home in 2001. He was elected in 2003 to the school board, where he has served since that time, including three years as president and three years as vice president. For the last 14 years, Joe has worked as the director of sales and promotions at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

Board member Edward Dressler was re-elected to the Joint Operating Committee for the Western Montgomery Career and Technical Center. Ciresi was elected to the Montgomery County School Directors Legislative Committee. DiBello will remain as the representative to the Spring City American Le- gion. Finally, Dressler will represent Spring-Ford as a liaison for the Pennsylvania School Board Association. The board will assess the current assignments for board committees (curriculum & technology, extra-curricular, finance, personnel, property and policy) and will announce any changes later in the year.

“I have enjoyed working with the board over the past few years,” Superintendent David Goodin said after the meeting, “and look forward to continuing our work to enhance the educational experience at SpringFord.”
