Adult writers of fiction invited to attend twice monthly meetings of the Phoenix Fiction Writers at the library. Free. Group meets second Thursday and third Tuesday of each month from 6:30to 9 p.m. in the library’s Harrop Room. Led by Eric Parmer, offering local writers education, empowerment and constructive criticism. Writers ask questions about the writing process, read work out loud and receive/offer input on material read. Writers wishing to have their work critiqued should submit to Eric before each meeting. Free weekly clinic for the public on Thursdays, except the fourth Thursday of the month, from 5to 7p.m. On the second Thursday, the hours will be 5to 6:30p.m. Rick Linn, LLC will provide information, counseling and advocacy in areas of law including family law, trusts and estates, criminal defense, landlord-tenant law and legal issues facing small businesses. Cuéntame un cuento/Tell Me a Story onWednesday, (each second Wednesday of the month) from 1:30-2p.m. Ages 3-5with caregiver . No registration required. This is abi-lingual story time. Come and enjoy stories and songs in Spanish and English. Presented in collaboration with Ursinus College. Spanish-speakers and non-Spanish speakers welcome. “Florence Foster Jenkins.” On Thursday, Jan. 12at 7p.m., the Library will screen “Florence Foster Jenkins” (2016, PG-13, 110min.) Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant star in this true-life tale of a New York socialite who dreams of becoming a great opera singer. While the voice she hears in her head is beautiful, to everyone else it is hilariously awful. This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments served. 3-3:45p.m. Hunters of the Sky --Join a local naturalist for an upclose look at rescued birds of prey, handicapped by injuries sustained in the wild and their adaptations for survival. Live raptors, including a falcon and owls, will inform those attending about these amazing hunters while promoting knowledge and stewardship of Pennsylvania wildlife and its ecosystems presented by Indian Run Environmental Education Center. For those who own older homes and want to find out more about their history, Pennypacker Mills is offering a free workshop that will provide information on how to determine the architectural style, age, and other valuable information about homes that can be found in public records. Attend this workshop open to all ages on Saturday, Jan. 14 from 1to 3p.m. in the Classroom Building. Please bring along photographs of the house. Refreshments will be served.
