Downtown Kitchen’s Food Collection Challenge in final phase

-

Bette Banjack has announced the Downtown Kitchen’s Food Collection Challenge will be collected and distributed in January through February 2017. This is an after the holidays collection when most Food Pantries & Shelters find their shelves nearly bare, when many still need to be fed.

The challenge asked for 22 weeks – August through December – to put aside one to four cans, bottles or other non-perishables. Donate whatever you manage to collect for this challenge. Along with food items new or slightly worn socks and gloves are being collected – these two items are the most needed in shelters.

The local areas pinpointed are Norristown, Phoenixville and Pottstown. If you live outside this area please collect for food bank(s) in your local area. Even someone in another state can take part in this challenge. If you are local, we will arrange for pick-up or you can drop themoff at Barto Pool & Spa in Phoenixville from Jan.7 -14. Contact Bette Ban- jack before Jan. 7 if pick-up needs to be scheduled. Final collection date is Jan. 14 when sorting the items will be held at Barto’s Pool & Spa in Poenixville.

Those food pantries that will share in “Harvest of the Bounty” are PACS Phoenixville – Patrican Society Norristown and Cluster of Pottstown Religious Cluster.
