Spring-Ford, Perk Valley, OJR well represented at Chesco Championships

The Spring-Ford, Perkiomen Valley and Owen J. Roberts boys and girls indoor track teams turned in strong performances at the Chester County Championships held at Ursinus College on Tuesday, January 10.
Between all three programs, the teams combined for four first-place finishes and 15 top-three finishes.
Spring-Ford’s Stephen Chapman was a double-medalist, taking first in the 55-meter hurdles at 8.16, then following that up with a silver finish in the 400 meter run, where he led the pack at 53.05. Teammate Jacob McKenna posted the top time in the mile run at 4:40.38 where Patrick Power finished fourth at 4:46.92. Chad Smiley posted a silver finish in the pole vault with a height of 12-6.
Perkiomen Valley’s jumpers turned in strong performances on the day.
Justin Daniels posted a 5-06 in the high jump, good enough for third place while teammate Isaiah Domine claimed bronze in the long jump with a 1900. Ben Scott took fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 34-00.50.
Spring-Ford’s Shane Ainscoe took fourth in the 3k where he finished up at 9:44.25 as SpringFord placed fifth in both the distance medley relay (11:40.42) and the 4x400 relay (3:43.35).
*** On the girls side, Spring-Ford’s Gabriella Bamford and Owen J. Roberts’ Morgan Shronk each rode home from Ur- sinus with first place medals dangling around their necks.
Bamford, a first place finisher in the 3k run, finished up at 11:20.95 while Shronk took top honors in the 400meter dash with a time of 59.70.
OJR posted three silver individual finishes, with Teneisha Myers (200 meter dash, 25.90), Allison Brunton (2:22.00, 800 meter run) and Savanna Sachar (pole vault, 9-06) all taking second while Perkiomen Valley’s Rachel Daniels took second in the high jump with a 5-00. Spring-Ford also had a pair of silver finishers in Jordan Sigler (55 hurdles, 9.37) and Madison Turosinski (pole vault, 9-0).
PV’s Christina Warren finished third in the 60 meter dash at 8.05 while teammate Jocelyn Rotay was third in the 800 meter run with atime of 2:24.00. Mary Bernotas also captured a bronze, taking third in the mile (5:32.00).
