Perk Valley wins Upper Moreland Invitation­al; Phoenixvil­le places 7th

Perkiomen Valley headed the eight-school field at the Upper Moreland Invitation­al wrestling tournament hosted Saturday, seeing eight competitor­smedal in their respective weight classes.

Austin Rowley was PV’s highest finisher, placing second at 126. The Vikes also benefited from the third-place outings of Cody Jefferies (132) and Drew Rowley (145) as they scored 167 team points to outdistanc­e second-place Upper Dublin (130) and thirdplace Pequea Valley (127).

Dalton Davis (120), Hunter Ricci (152) and Willie Mathis (170) all came away with fourths. Perk Valley’s other high finishers were Jacob Sturm, fifth at 160; and Riley Kershaw, sixth at 138.

Isaiah Mayes won his weight class to head Pottstown’s fourth-place finish. Mayes scored gold at 170 with his 12-4major decision of UM’s Austin Zubyk. The Trojans also had a pair of silver medalists in Nathaniel Parson (132) and Anthony Wiggins (138), with Aiden Webber third at 160.

Phoenixvil­le finished seventh in the field, getting a third from Thomas Fell (170), a fifth from Ian Williams (126) and a pair of sixths by J.R. Piazza (132) and Angelo Franzone (160).

Bolstered by three pins and a technical fall, the Rams closed out their regular season with a nonleague victory over theMustang­s.

Indoor track

At the Pa. Track & Field Coaches Associatio­n (PTFC) Track and Field Carnival at Lehigh University, Spring-Ford relay teams scored four thirdplace medals.

On the boys’ side, the Rams’ 4x800 relay (Patrick Power, J.T Clark, Trevor Detweiler, Matt Sweitzer) combined for an 8:29.60 clocking while the distance medley relay (Power, Zak Musetti, Sweitzer, Shane Ainscoe) collaborat­ed on an

11:11.30. On the girls’ side, Spring-Ford’s 4x800 relay (Bella Marchini, Gabriella Bamford, Sydney Galster, Emily Smith) ran a 9:46.47 that lowered its state seed to nine, and the Distance Medley Relay (Julia Vledder, Jenna Darlington, Emily Smith, Marchini) turned in a 12:46.09.

Boys swimming

The Wildcats completed a perfect run through the Pioneer Athletic Conference regular season with their victory over the Warriors on Tuesday.

Ryan Bowker (200 free, 1:50.14), Logan Baker (50 free, 23.00) and Jordan

Roach (100 fly, 54.91) all swam legs on OJR’s winning 200 medley (1:43.97) and 200 free (1:31.81) relays. Michael Palumbo was a two-event for Methacton, taking the 200 IM (2:07.51) and 100 free (50.56).

Noah Cancro figured in on four firstplace finishes to help the Rams outswim the Vikings in their PAC meet.

Cancro won the 50 free (21.99) and 100 breast (1:05.03) in addition to swimming legs of Spring- Ford’s winning 200 free (1:32.57) and 400 free relays (3:18.10). Ryan Keenan was a two-event winner for PV, taking the 200 free (1:48.24) and 500 free (4:58.30).

Girls swimming

Laurel Fink and Morgan Hansen each won two individual events to head the Wildcats’ PAC victory over the Warriors, one that completed their unbeaten run through the league’s regular season.

Fink took the 50 free (25.25) and 100 free (54.30) while swimming the anchor leg of Roberts’ winning 200 medley relay (1:52.79). Hansen scored her firsts in the 100 fly (58.98) and 100 back (1:03.50) while also swimming a leg of the 200 medley relay.

Alyssa Marano won two individual events to help the Vikings edge the Rams in their PAC meet.

Marano took the 50 free (25.36) and 100 free (1:02.90) in addition to swimming the anchor legs on PV’s winning 200 free (1:42.38) and 400 free relays (3:52.96). Katherine Parker won two individual events for Spring-Ford: the 200 free (2:02.49) and the 500 free (5:31.93).
