John L. Hess, 86, of Venice, FL, formerly Phoenixvil­le, PA, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 in the Pinebrook Center, Venice, FL. Born on July 8, 1930 in Phoenixvil­le, PA, he was the son of the late Ivan Hess and the late Pearl (Hallman) wife of the late Leroy Sadler, Sr.

Jack served in the United States Army Reserves. He was employed in sales at Forge Millwork and Danby Lumberyard. He enjoyed working and had a number of jobs in Florida. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed horse racing and traveling.

Jack is survived by his daughters: Darlene Devaney, of Phoenixvil­le, PA and Linda, wife of the late Robert G. Painter, of Pottstown, PA. He had four grandchild­ren: Michael J. Devaney, Jr., Jason W. Painter and his wife Carla, Stacey D’ette Devaney and Shannon P. Kitchen, and her husband Kevin; seven great grandchild­ren; brothers, Leroy Sadler, Jr., of Phoenix- ville, PA, Blaine Sadler, of Trooper, PA and William Sadler of Phoenixvil­le, PA; and his companion: Sandy Shoemaker, of Venice, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife: Shirley A. (Nolan) Hess.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc, Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixvil­le, PA on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 11:00 am. Officiatin­g will be the Rev. Mark Young. Interment will follow in the Morris Cemetery, Phoenixvil­le, PA. Friends will be received from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the funeral home.
