Everybody cut ‘Footloose’ at Perkiomen Valley High School
The ’80s are making a comeback at Perkiomen Valley High School with this year’s production of “Footloose,” to be performed March 31 through April 2, with a special matinee performance on Thursday, March 30, at 1 p.m. for senior cit- izens.
All performances will take place in Spahr Auditorium at Perkiomen Valley Middle School East, 100 Kagey Road. Performances are 7:30 p.m. on March 31, 6:30 p.m. on April 1, and 2 p.m. on April 2.
Big hair and parachute pants are optional, but the ‘80s classics like “Foot- loose,” “Holding Out for a Hero,” “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” and “Almost Paradise” are mandatory for this year’s spring musical.
Over 100 Perkiomen Valley High School students are involved in this year’s spring musical, which will feature songs that have become a part of pop culture history.
“Footloose” tells the story of Ren McCormack (Ethan Rapp), who moves to a small Midwestern town from Chicago, and is in shock when he discovers the town he now calls home has made dancing and rock music illegal. As he struggles to fit in, Ren faces an uphill bat- tle to change things. With the help of his new friend, Willard Hewitt (Jared Pinkham) and defiant teen Ariel Moore (Paige Anglace) he might loosen up this conservative town. However, Ariel’s influential father, Reverend Shaw Moore (DJ Lesher) stands in the way.
The performance for senior citizens on March 30 is free. Tickets for all other performances are $10. To order tickets in advance, visit the website at pvsd.org and select the spring musical item from the “news” section on the home page. Tickets will also be available at the door.
