Adult writers of fiction invited to attend twice monthly meetings of the Phoenix Fiction Writers at the library. Free. Group meets second Thursday and third Tuesday of each month from 6:30to 9p.m. in the library’s Harrop Room. Led by Eric Parmer, offering local writers education, empowerment and constructive criticism. Writers ask questions about the writing process, read work out loud and receive/offer input on material read. Free and open to public. A free legal clinic will be offered at Phoenixville Public Library on the first Thursday of the month from 5to 7:30p.m. Ian J. Michener, Esq. of Rick Linn, LLC offers this Phoenixville Legal Outreach Clinic, providing information, counseling, and advocacy in various areas of law, including family law, trusts & estates, criminal defense, landlord-tenant law, and legal issues facing small businesses. Attendees receive a free 20-minute consultation with an attorney, who will provide counseling and access to legal resources as needed. Consultations are provided on a first-come, first served basis. Phoenixville Public Library will host keyboardist Joe Kenney in concert on Monday, July 24 at 7p.m. A pianist acclaimed for his innovative merging of jazz, blues, and classical idioms, Joe Kenney will perform solo selections from his current and forthcoming albums, including contemporary covers, original jazz, and classical works. Tall Ships & Pirate Tales, 10:30a.m., Thursday, July 27, at The Colonial Theatre, 227Bridge Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460. Set sail on a thrilling action-packed adventure about a crew of quirky pirates marooned on a desert island as they try to construct a ship by exploring the science (with a nautical twist) behind clouds, combustion, air pressure, and more. This show is free and open to the public.
The library will offer an Adult Summer Reading Program for patrons age 18+. Receive a book review card for each book or audiobook you check out and return to Phoenixville Library. The cards double as free entry forms for weekly raffle drawings for gift cards from local merchants. The more you read, the more chances you have to win. Bonus raffle entries can be earned, and a grand prize drawing for a Fitbit® will be conducted at the end of the program for all participants. The program is free.
