UP wins 12U Section 8 title

UPPER PROVIDENCE 12U WINS SEC

TION 8 TITLE » The Upper Providence Little League 12-and-under team won the Section 8 Tournament in Whitemarsh, Pa., on Tuesday, July 18.

The team punched its ticket to a third consecutiv­e state tournament appearance with an 18-5 win over Neshaminy in the title game. States gets underway today in Fleetville, Pennsylvan­ia and will feature winners from the eight Little League sections across the state.

Team members include TJ Cadden, Ryan Garvey, Brendan Kenning, Michael McKenna, ColeNilles, Cam Paquette, Gavin Schauder, Ryan Shaner, Vernon Sheeler, Gage Swanger, Matt Tsiaras and Jake Voynar.

BMX RACING» Six members of Trilogy BMX in Pottstown recently qualified for the BMXWorld Championsh­ips to be held July 25-30 in Rock Hill, SC.

Among the qualifiers in their respective events are Jeremy Knapper (Cruiser 25-29Men), PaytonRid- enour (15 Girls), Chloe Kappen (12 Girls) and Nathaniel Oswald (5 & 6 Boys). Justin Knapper (17-24 Men) and Jessica Lewis (Cruiser 17-29 Women) qualified but will be held out with injuries.

The UCI BMX World Championsh­ips are held annually to crown a BMX Cycling World Champion, with the event being last held in the United States in 2001.

In order to qualify, racers must finish top-8 in a 2017world qualifier race, which were held throughout the year in Phoenix, AZ; Rock Hill, SC; Redmond, OR; and Austin, TX.
