Driver of crashed BMW still unknown
LIMERICK» State police are still working on identifying the driver of a vehicle found crashed along Route 422 last month.
According to State Police at Skippack, troopers have obtained video surveillance of the man they believe had been driving a black BMW found crashed along the westbound lanes of Route 422 near the Phil- adelphia Premium Outlets on July 12.
The surveillance video was obtained from Turkey Hill, 3051 E. High St., showing what police de- scribed as a “disheveled” looking man who arrived at the store not long after the accident was believed to have occurred. The man in the surveillance video can be seen making a phone call and being picked up by another vehicle.
Police said they believe the man was the only occupant in the car at the time of the crash and was able to free himself. They are working to positively identify him.
The crash was discovered early July 12 after a post by Mario DiNardo was shared by the Facebook page 422 Sucks along with a photo of the vehicle. The post read in part, “I found this car back in the woods on 422 west bound across from the outlets. I stopped and tried to look in the car but couldn’t see much. I called Limerick police to see if anyone knew about this already, they transferred me to the state police who said they’d look into it.”
Limerick police confirmed on July 12 that they had received multiple calls about the vehicle and that Pennsylvania State Police had just arrived on the scene when Limerick Police arrived. State Police took over the investigation, bringing a Montgomery County Sheriff’s K-9 unit and a state police forensic unit to assist.
State Police said July 27 they would release more information when it becomes available.
