Phoenix FictionWri­ters: Adult writers of fiction invited to attend twice monthly meetings of the Phoenix Fiction Writers at the library. Free. Led by Eric Parmer, offering local writers education, empowermen­t and constructi­ve criticism. Michener, Esq. of Rick Linn, LLC offers this Phoenixvil­le Legal Outreach Clinic, providing informatio­n, counseling, and advocacy in various areas of law, including family law, trusts & estates, criminal defense, landlord-tenant law, and legal issues facing small businesses. Attendees receive a free 20-minute consultati­on with an attorney, who will provide counseling and access to legal resources as needed. Phoenixvil­le Tech Group: The Phoenixvil­le Tech Group holds weekly morning meetings at Phoenixvil­le Public Library on Mondays from 10a.m. to noon, and monthly evening meetings on the third Thursday of the month from 7to 8:30p.m. The Phoenixvil­le Tech Group brings technology users together to share knowledge and experience. We are particular­ly interested in helping those who have limited or no experience with computers. Good Credit — How to Get It!: Phoenixvil­le Public Library will host a free workshop, “Good Credit — How to Get It!,” Thursday, Nov. 16, from 6:30to 8:30p.m. The workshop will be conducted by Open Hearth Inc. Learn how the credit system works, how to establish good credit quickly and how to fix issues that went wrong. Bring your own credit report so that your personal situation can be addressed. Microsoft Office & More!: Learn Microsoft’s Office 2013 programs and more in a series of free classes on selected Saturdays through December. IT profession­al Ernie Tidball is the instructor. The Opioid Crisis in America — Finding Hope and Alternativ­e Treatment Methods: Phoenixvil­le Public Library will host a free and timely presentati­on, “The Opioid Crisis in America: Finding Hope and Alternativ­e Treatment Methods,” Monday, Nov. 20, at 7p.m. Steve Killelea, founder and owner of Manor of Hope, will be the speaker. Killelea’s son, John, struggled for 10years with a heroin addiction. Their mission is to provide young men struggling with addiction the life skills and education they need to make them active and productive members of the community. In this presentati­on, Killelea will discuss what he’s learned throughout his decadelong journey of navigating rehab and medical facilities, the science and personal toll of addiction and how he finally found hope when he thought he never could.
