Black Friday shoppers rush out early seeking bargains
The countdown to Christmas has begun as shoppersmade their annual trips to stores for Black Friday shopping.
If you happened to be one of the shoppers at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets Friday, you know that, as usual, the early birds get the worms. At around 8:30 a.m. Friday, shoppers were waiting in lines of traffic just to get into the parking lot. Once inside though, the story was a little different for early shoppers.
Though there were definitely crowds early Friday morning, shoppers said it wasn’t quite as busy as they expected. Many shoppers said they had little to no trouble finding a parking space and that their shopping experience was pretty relaxed.
“We’ve been coming here formaybe the last four years,” said Lisa Kohler who was shopping with her family. “I like the atmosphere and everything. It’s just nice and you’re kind of under if it’s real cold and the food court is right here.”
“It’s very calm here, too. Some places are really wild and crazy. We don’t go to Target or Walmart,” added Rachel Kohler.
One thing Black Friday shoppers can’t always escape, however are the lines. Shoppers also said they experienced some long lines inside stores like Banana Republic while waiting to check out. Stores including Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Coach, Vera Bradley and Tory Burch had customers lining up outside the store to wait for their chance at the once a year deals.
“Michael Kors is the best deal we’ve found so far,” said Taryn Kohler. “You can’t beat it.”
The deals aren’t the only things that keep shoppers coming back. Many take part in the Black Friday rush because it’s part of a tradition.
“This is like our fifth year coming to this exact spot,” said Jacob Clements, of Perkasie who was shopping with a friend, Damon Waslin, of Sellersville. “He lives in California nowand I live in New Jersey but we’re from Perkasie and Sellersville so this is the one thing we do when we’re back.”
The Philadelphia Premium Outlets opened at midnight on Thanksgiving and will remain open up 10 p.m. Friday.
