Lady Phantoms claim Phoenixvil­le Tournament crown

The Phoenixvil­le girls basketball team claimed the Phoenixvil­le Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon with a 29-18 win over Strath Haven in the championsh­ip game Saturday, December 9.

Jasmine Hamilton had 12 points and 12 rebounds in the championsh­ip game and was named the Tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Ameerah Green, who was selected to the Tournament’s First Team, had six points as Phoenixvil­le jumped out to a 14-5 lead by the half.

The Phantoms opened the tournament with a dominant 52-1 win over Chester Charter School for the Arts on Friday night. Marlee Brown led theway with nine points while Green, Aubrie Breisblatt and Hamilton followed with eight points apiece.

SPRING-FORD 46, N. KANSAS CITY 40 » The Rams opened play in the She Got Game Tournament by topping their Missouri opponent on Friday, Dec. 8.

Abby Goodrich led Spring-Ford with 14 points, one more than teammate Rachel Christman’s 13. They were key to the Rams taking a 26-24 halftime lead.

SPRING-FORD 51, ARCHBISHOP MOLL O Y( NY )41

Lucy Olsen scored a team-high 19 points to lead the Rams to a win over Archbishop Molloy in Washington D.C. on Saturday, Dec. 9

Olsen finished 5-for-6 from the foul line while Alyssa Yuan chipped in 10 points to help give Spring-Ford a 32-19 lead by the half. Olivia Olsen and Rachel Christman added seven and six points, respective­ly.

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 56, CENTRAL BUCKS

WEST » The Vikings used a 20-8 fourth quarter advantage to nail down a win over the Bucks during the North Penn Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 9

Megan Jonassen led the way with a teamhigh 16 points while Taylor Hamm followed with 13 points, nine during the fourth quarter. Kelly Owens and Naiya Daisey added eight points apiece in the win. Diane Nicholson notched a game-high 20 points for C.B. West.

PHOENIXVIL­LE 58, COLLEGIUM CHARTER 29

» Peyton Graham’s big individual showing was key to the Phantoms doubling up Collegium Charter in their non-league contest on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Graham had 14 points, seven steals and six rebounds to help Phoenixvil­le (2-0) open a 26-8 lead in the first half, prior to the locals outscoring their guests in the second half by a 32-21 margin. Hannah Sands chipped in with six points and six assists while Ameerah Green added 13 points.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 44, PERK IO MEN VALLEY

33 » Bailey McManus scored 23 points, including five 3-poiners, to lead the Patriots past the Vikings in non-league play on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Megan Jonassen scored 13 points for PV, with Taylor Hamm contributi­ng another 11 points.

Boys basketball

SPRING-FORD 50, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 30» Nestor Diaz and Noah Baker combined for 34 points as the Spring-Ford boys basketball team rolled over Central Bucks West, 5030, on the opening day of the Pioneer Athletic Conference/Suburban One Challenge Friday, Dec. 8.

Diaz scored a game-high 18 points, followed by Baker’s 16 for the Rams. Mike Munari had a team-high 12 points for C.B. West, which was held to single-digit scoring in each of the final three quarters by Spring-Ford’s defensive effort.

KENNETT 66, PHOENIX VILLE 59» Mi tc hell Kosara scored a game-high 32 points to lead the Blue Devils to a win over the Phantoms during the Phoenixvil­le Tip-Off Tournament on Friday, Dec. 8

Kosara finished 13-for-14 at the freethrow line and added a trio of 3-pointers while Ben Lesher followed with 12 points as Kennett bounced back from a 12-10 deficit after the opening quarter. Brendan Jenkins paced Phoenixvil­le with 14 points while Colton Brown followed with 13. KJ Quinn added 11 points for the Phantoms.

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 62, KENNETT 58 » Tyler Strechay scored a game-high 33 points to lead the Perkiomen Valley boys basketball team to a win over the Kennett during the Phoenixvil­le Tip-Off-Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 9.

Strechay knocked down a pair of 3-point--

ers and finished 7-for-8 from the foul line while Dante Graves followed with 12 for the Vikings. Perk Valley (2-0) used a 16-4 advantage in the fourth quarter to close it out.

PHOENIXVIL­LE 69, COLLEGIUM CHARTER 59 » Steven Hamilton headed a quartet of double-figure scorers that enabled the Phantoms boys basketball teamto outscore Collegium Charter in their non-league game Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Hamilton scored 20 points to lead Phoenixvil­le, which built a 38-26 halftime lead. K.J. Quinn added 16 while Quinn Danna and Colton Brown had 10 apiece.

PENN WOOD 69, SPRING-FORD

64» Noah Baker and Nestor Diaz combined for 50 points during the Rams’ non-conference loss against the Patriots on Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Baker scored a gamehigh 30 points while Diaz had 20 with four 3-pointers on the night. Spring-Ford was outscored 32-24 in the first half before Chris Nash and Julian Holloway finished with 16 points apiece for PennWood on the night.

SPRING-FORD 104, PHOENIXVIL­LE 66 » The Rams captured nine events on the way to a PAC win over the Phantoms on Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Carson Hilliard had a hand in four wins as he captured the 100 free (49.93) and the 100 back (59.18) and swam a leg in both the 200 free relay (1:34.01) and the 400 free relay (3:30.07). Phoenixvil­le’s lone individual win came from Dominic Sposato, who swam a 1:06.77 in the 100 breast and was part of the Phantoms’ first-place 200 medley relay (1:45.03).

Girls swimming

PHOENIXVIL­LE 93, SPRINGFORD­77» Erini Pappas and Sarah Ritter were part of four wins during the Phantoms’ PAC win over the Rams on Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Pappas and Ritter each

swam legs of the 200 medley relay (1:54.89) and the 200 free relay (1:45.83). Individual­ly, Pappas claimed the 100 fly (59.51) and 100 back (59.71) while Ritter won the 50 free (26.09) and the 100 free (57.90). Katherine Parker (200 free, 2:04.06) and Emma Thomas (200 IM, 2:22.32) captured Spring-Ford’s lone individual wins.

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 69,

BISHOP MCDEVITT 9 » The Vikings went on a pinning tear in their non-league victory over McDevitt on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Stephen Coleman (126), Dalton Davis (132), Cody Jefferies (138), Austin Rowley (145), Matt Wrz- esniewski (160) and Jahir Holmes (285) all scored falls for PV, which also benefited from five forfeits. Willie Mathis rounded out the Vikes’ scoring with an 11-10 decision at 195.

Indoor track

URSINUSOPE­N» The Boyertown boys’ distanceme­dley relay and Perkiomen Valley’s Christina Warren and Cole Peterlin led a group of locals at the season-opening Ursinus Open on Saturday, Dec. 9.

Boyertown seniors Todd Barton, Dominic Derafelo, Josh Endy and junior Payton Stanziani impressed with an 11:06.10 to win their relay with second-place St. Andrews finishing 11:38.37.

Warren ran away with the girls’ 55-meter hurdles in 8.03, comfortabl­y ahead of runner-up Tia Taylor of Saint Basil (8.52).

Peterlin, the quarterbac­k of the PAC champion Perkiomen Valley football team in the fall, cleared 6-5 to win the boys’ high jump.

Owen J. Roberts’ Scott Honicker was second in the 55-meter hurdles in 7.78, trailing only Germantown Academy’s Kyle Garland (7.35). Spring-Ford’s Stephen Chapman and Methacton Alex Yablonski were 7th (8.18) and 8th (8.26), respective­ly.

Methacton was third in the 4x200 with Julie Byrne, Marina Daywalt, Amy Domenick and Camillie Dunham clocking a time of 1:48.59.
