Three escape house fire
UPPERPROVIDENCE» Three people escaped a fire that tore through an Upper Providence home.
According to Royersford Fire Department, the department received a call to assist with a house fire on the 500 block of Tawnyberry Road at approximately 4:10 a.m. Dec. 16. Upon arrival, authorities observed a fire working through the roof of the home.
“Crews knocked down the fire and made an interior attack once additional units arrived. Crews made good progress on the fire but decided to back out due to structural and safety concerns. Ladder 77’s master stream was then used to knock down most of the fire. Once the fire was knocked down crews completed additional overhaul to extinguish the dwelling along with additional fire located in the basement,” read a post from Trappe Fire Company.
Firefighters managed to get the fire under control by 5:29 a.m. and remained working on the scene until around 8:30 a.m.
Upper Providence Department of Fire and Emergency Services said in a post, “Unfortunately, new construction, advanced fire conditions, and weathered roadways were working against the fire department.”
All three of the residents and their pets escaped the home safely.
Working on the scene were Trappe Fire Company, Collegeville Fire Company and Goodwill Ambulance.
According to a Go- FundMe page, the residents include a father and two teenagers, ages 16 and 13.
“They lost everything except the shirts on their backs when they ran out of the house. We are so thankful theymade it out safe including the animals, but they need our help,” read the page. So far the page has surpassed its $5,000 goal, raising $6,150.
