PHOENIXVIL­LE » The Phoenixvil­le Police Department responded to 81 calls for service including four traffic accidents between June 4 and June 7. The following is a summary of incidents as reported by Phoenixvil­le Police:

• On June 4 at 12:33 a.m., Cpl. Place stopped the driver of a Kia Sorento on W. Bridge Street for an expired registrati­on plate and discovered that he was a wanted man. Richard Cordero-Pina, 30, of Phoenixvil­le, had a county bench warrant for his arrest. Cordero-Pina was arrested and sent to the county jail with a couple traffic tickets. His car wasn’t inspected either.

• On June 4 at 12:35 a.m., a resident reported that there was a car parked on Deger Avenue near W. Bridge Street and the interior dome light was on. Officer Heller checked on the car and it was unlocked. The officer turned off the dome light and locked the car.

• On June 4 at 3:27 p.m., police responded to the area of Rt. 23 and Paradise Street for the report of a woman walking down the street talking to herself. Officer Rosario found the woman behind the Giant store and he tried to talk to her. The woman told the officer that she did not want to talk to him and walked away.

• Police responded to the 300 block of Marshall Street for a car crash on June 4 at 6:17 p.m. Two neighbors were backing out of their driveways at the same time and collided. One of the neighbors did not have a valid driver’s license so he was issued a ticket for the violation.

• On June 5 at 7:01 p.m., police responded to the Pickering Creek Inn for the report of a theft from the bar. A patron, age 31 from Mont Clare, reported that he left his wallet, phone, and keys on the bar and walked over to talk to a lady friend on the other side of the room. When he returned to his barstool, his property was missing from the bar. Officer Dobry reviewed the video footage and observed a woman remove the items and hide them in the corner of the bar. The officer questioned the woman and she explained that she and the victim are regulars and she was just playing a practical joke on him. She apologized to the officer and to her friend for the prank.

• On June 6 at 7:30 p.m., police received a tip that a wanted man named Robert Tihansky was inside a house in the 3500 block of Eland Downe. Officers went to the home and arrested Tihansky, age 39, on the warrant that was held by the Pottstown Police. Tihansky was placed in a holding cell until Pottstown Police picked him up.

• A Royersford man called the police to report that Enterprise Rent-a-Car said they would pick him up but they never showed on June 6 at 9:05 a.m. Officer Komorowski informed the man that his complaint was not a police issue and he should contact the rental car company directly.

• On June 6 at 12:49 p.m., police responded to St. Mary’s RC Church for the report of a suspicious condition. A staff member reported that a painting contractor hired by the church was hiding in the bathroom for two hours. Staff inspected the bathroom after he exited and discovered damage to the sink area. Officers questioned the man and he provided a couple false names. Officers learned that he was wanted in Philadelph­ia for a probation violation. The officers used the mobile fingerprin­t scanner to ID him as James Daley, 30, of Philadelph­ia. Daley was arrested on the warrant and charged with providing false ID to police.

• On June 6 at 6:25 p.m., police responded to Rt. 113 near Township Line Road for the report of a man walking on the shoulder who appeared to be drunk. Officer Heller spoke to the 21-year-old Phoenixvil­le man and he was not drunk- he was walking to work.

• On June 6 at 8:05 p.m., police responded to the Black Rock boat launch for the report of a disturbanc­e involving a kayaker and a couple of jet skiers. A disagreeme­nt on the water boiled over to the parking lot so the kayaker called 911 and blocked the entrance to the parking lot with his car until the police arrived. The jet skiers drove around the blockade on the grass and took out a pole as they made their escape. The kayaker got the tag and provided a descriptio­n of the individual­s. The informatio­n was forwarded to the PA Fish and Boat Commission for follow-up investigat­ion.

• On June 6 at 11:56 p.m., Officer Bryan saw a man staggering as he walked up the sidewalk on Main Street toward Church Street. The man tried to get into a parked car but was fumbling with his keys and the car door. The 38-year-old Spring City man was arrested for public drunkennes­s and released when he was sober.

• On June 7 at 2:56 a.m., Cpl. Place saw the driver of Ford Explorer stopped at the traffic light on Rt. 23 at W. Bridge Street. The light cycled several times and the Explorer didn’t move. The officer approached the driver and could tell that he had been drinking. Daniel Michny, age 51 of Phoenixvil­le, failed a series of field sobriety tests and he was arrested for DUI.

• On June 7 at 10:03 a.m., police responded to the McDonald’s for the report of an unconsciou­s man lying in the grass. Officers responded and woke the 50-year-old man up. He told them that he was tired and decided to take a nap. The East Pikeland resident was coherent and did not appear to be under the influence.

• On June 7 at 12:26 p.m., police responded to the Mont Clare Bridge to assist the Upper Providence Township Police with a distraught individual who was threatenin­g to jump off the bridge. While an Upper Providence officer distracted the man, Sgt. Gold snuck up behind him and yanked him off the railing. The man struggled with the officers but they were able to restrain him and he was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

• On June 7 at 3:05 p.m., police responded to the Gateway Pharmacy for the report of a shoplifter in the store. A 27-year-old Douglassvi­lle woman helped herself to a cranberry juice and then took several cosmetic items out of their package as she walked around the store drinking the juice. She sampled the cosmetics and placed the items she liked in her pockets and put the others back. The woman damaged the packaging and/or stole $97 worth of merchandis­e. She was issued a summons for retail theft.
