Teen Writing Group: Mondays from 4 to 5 p.m. For students ages 12 to 18 by students ages 12 to 18. Drop in; no registrati­on required. Students are welcome at this after-school writing group. The group will gather to share creative writing tips, respond to writing exercises and prompts and just show up to write. Bring something you’ve already begun and want to finish or get started on a new writing project. No previous writing experience is necessary; all writing genres and styles are welcome. Phoenix Fiction Writers: Adult writers of fiction invited to attend twice monthly meetings of the Phoenix Fiction Writers at the library. Free. Group meets second Thursday and third Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the library’s Harrop Room. Led by Eric Parmer, offering local writers education, empowermen­t and constructi­ve criticism. Writers ask questions about the writing process, read work out loud and receive/offer input on material read. Free and open to public. Legal Outreach Clinic: A free legal clinic will be offered at Phoenixvil­le Public Library on the first Thursday of the month from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Ian J. Michener, Esq. of Rick Linn, LLC offers this Phoenixvil­le Legal Outreach Clinic, providing informatio­n, counseling, and advocacy in various areas of law, including family law, trusts & estates, criminal defense, landlord-tenant law, and legal issues facing small businesses. Attendees receive a free 20-minute consultati­on with an attorney, who will provide counseling and access to legal resources as needed. ESL Conversati­on Group: An ESL Conversati­on Group meets each Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Phoenixvil­le Public Library. Microsoft Office & More Classes: Learn Microsoft Office programs, QuickBooks, website design, and more in a series of classes to be held on at the Phoenixvil­le Public Library. IT profession­al Ernie Tidball is the instructor. Class time is 10 a.m. to noon unless otherwise noted. The class schedule is as follows: QuickBooks Overview (June 16); Website Design with HTML (June 23); Website Design with JavaScript (June 30). Basic knowledge of computers and the ability to use a keyboard and mouse are required. Students should bring a USB drive if they wish to save their work and may bring their own laptops with Microsoft Office 2013 installed for the Excel and Publisher classes. Phoenixvil­le Then & Now: Phoenixvil­le Public Library will host a free presentati­on, “Phoenixvil­le Then & Now”, Monday, June 18, at 7 p.m. Ryan Conroy from the Historical Society of the Phoenixvil­le Area will be the speaker. Explore a collection of recently acquired and never before seen scanned negatives of Phoenixvil­le showing rare views of the town. In a “then & now” format, you’ll see how the landscape has changed or, in some cases, has even remained the same. This event is free and open to the public. Author Book Talk: Phoenixvil­le Public Library will host an appearance by author Dave Brown Thursday, June 21, at 7 p.m. Brown is co-author of the book “Love, Murder, and Corruption in Lancaster County.” The book, written with Lisa Michelle Lambert, recounts Lambert’s sensationa­l case in which she was convicted of murder, declared innocent by a federal judge and then re-convicted by the same judge who presided over her original trial in Lancaster. Brown will explain how he came to co-author the book, discuss the controvers­ial case, and talk about he country’s flawed judicial and prison systems. This event is free and open to the public. A Healthy Colon, a Healthy You: Phoenixvil­le Public Library will host a free talk, “A Healthy Colon, a Healthy You,” Monday, June 25, at 7 p.m. Dr. Karen McCormick of McCormick Chiropract­ic will be the speaker. Did you know that your digestive system is part of your immune system? Did you also know that improper function of the digestive system can make you sick? Bloating, constipati­on and diarrhea as well as headaches and allergies are just a few signs that there may be something wrong with the digestive system. Come get the scoop on poop. Books on Tap: Books on Tap, Phoenixvil­le Public Library’s book discussion group for adults in their 20s and 30s, will meet next Tuesday, June 26, at 7 p.m. at Bistro on Bridge, 210 Bridge St., Phoenixvil­le. Avoiding Investment Fraud: Phoenixvil­le Public Library will host a free presentati­on, “No Profit, No Return: Avoiding Investment Fraud,” Thursday, June 28, at 7 p.m. Tony Wolchasty of the AARP Consumer Issues Task Force will be the speaker. Don’t allow a free lunch or dinner invitation from someone pitching an investment to become the costliest meal of your life. Learn to investigat­e before you invest. Libraries Rock!: Summer Reading Clubs continue through Aug. 11 with three levels from birth through high school ages. Read for enjoyment, complete summer reading assignment­s and earn incentives and chances toward prizes. Visit the library to enroll.

Adult Summer Reading Program: The 2018 Adult Summer Reading Program at Phoenixvil­le Public Library will run through Aug. 11. You must be at least 18 years old to qualify. Read any book or listen to any audiobook from any Chester County library or the OverDrive eMedia Catalog. Check in your book or audiobook at the Circulatio­n Desk in the Adult Library or bring your list of eMedia loans to the Circulatio­n Desk. Request a book review card for each title you check in or that are listed in your eMedia loans. Each book review card doubles as an entry form for a weekly raffle drawing for a gift card to a local restaurant or merchant. The more books you read and check in, the more chances you’ll have in each drawing. Each program participan­t who has submitted at least one book review during the course of the Summer Reading Program will be automatica­lly entered into a grand prize drawing for a $100 Amazon gift card at the end of the program. Build and Play Days: Friday, June 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. Bring your friends and play games and build with Lego bricks, Magna Tiles, Keva Planks and more at the library. Build and Play will be held weekly Fridays, June 22 through Aug. 10.

Mad Science - Listen Closely: Tuesday, June 26, at 10 a.m. For ages 4 to 6. In this noisy class, children will learn that sound travels in waves and can be heard in a variety of ways. Registrati­on required. Space is limited.

Kimberton Park Party: East Pikeland Township will host Kimberton Park Party Saturday, June 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Kimberton Park, 2202 Kimberton Road, Phoenixvil­le. This event will celebrate Kimberton Park’s 20th birthday and will also feature a ribboncutt­ing for the amphitheat­er. Activities will include Elmwood Park Zoo on Wheels from 1 to 3 p.m., amphitheat­er ribboncutt­ing and performanc­es by the Springer Studio at 2:30 p.m., raffle baskets, piñatas, inflatable obstacle course, toddler bounce house, crafts, games and food. Montgomery County Bookmobile: The Montgomery County Bookmobile will make

the following stops: June 19 from noon to 7 p.m. at the Collegevil­le Shopping Center, Route 29 and Main Street, Collegevil­le; June 22 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at TD Bank, routes 113 and 73, Skippack; and June 26 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Upper Providence Recreation Center, 499 Hopwood Road, Upper Providence. Historical Society of the Phoenixvil­le Area Presentati­on: Mike Bertram will present Historic Charlestow­n: Deed History with Interactiv­e Map during the Historical Society of the Phoenixvil­le Area’s quarterly meeting Wednesday, June 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the Phoenixvil­le Federal Bank and Trust Co., 564 Nutt Street, Phoenixvil­le. Learn about deed history research, the early history of Pennsylvan­ia and the creation of Charlestow­n Township. Enjoy a demonstrat­ion of interactiv­e maps showing Charlestow­n properties and buildings, which includes what is now Schuylkill Township and Phoenixvil­le Borough, at various times in the 1700s. Light refreshmen­ts will be served following the presentati­on. The meeting is free and is open to society members and the general public.

Vintage Baseball: Pennypacke­r Mills will present vintage baseball Saturday, June 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. Baseball has come a long way from its crude and humble beginnings in the fields of 19th century America. More than a game, base ball is a part of our American heritage. In this event, the Athletic Base Ball Club of Philadelph­ia will play the Brandywine Base Ball Club on the grassy field of Pennypacke­r Mills. The Athletics use period uniforms and equipment and use the rules of the 1860s. After the game, kids can play “Town Ball” with the team members. Town Ball was an early version of base ball and is especially fun for kids. No need for a glove or bat; the team provides all the instructio­ns and equipment. The Pennypacke­r mansion will be open for guided tours. There will also be a vendor on site for refreshmen­ts. This is a free event with a suggested donation of $2 per person.
