A Costume Contest for cash prizes will take place at 1 p.m. on the Streetfair stage, with contestant registration beginning at noon. Registration is $5 per person or costume group entry. At 2:30 p.m., MST3K’s Matt McGinnis will hold a question-and-answer session on the Streetfair stage. The Patient Creatures will present a free storytelling program at 2 and 3 p.m. at Steel City Coffee House. Several vehicles from the film, “Tony’s car” and the firetruck, will be on the street during the Streetfair. Food and merchandise vendors will round out the event, which will end at 5 p.m. Multiple showings of “The Blob,” plus two classic sci-fi movies, will take place in the 1903 theater on Saturday. Throughout the day, special guests will be present in the Garden Suite of the Colonial’s new wing. While admission to the Streetfair is free, wristbands must be purchased for access to the special guests in the Colonial Theatre spaces. The wristband purchase also includes a seat for either the noon or 4 p.m. double feature of “The Blob” and “Creature from the Black Lagoon” in 3D, as well as screenings of “Blob” director Shorty Yeaworth’s films “Dinosaurus!” and “4D Man” running throughout the day Saturday. The Berry Theatre will feature a 12:30 p.m. screening of the 2017 documentary “Steve McQueen: American Icon.” McQueen’s wife, Barbara Minty McQueen, and McQueen biographer, Marshall Terrill, will introduce the film and be on hand following the movie for a question-and-answer session. At 4:30 p.m., horror host Mr. Lobo will present a Spook Show, which will include a screening of “Daughter of Horror,” the film within a film in “The Blob.” Seating for these presentations is limited. Admission is included with the purchase of a wristband on a first-come, first-served basis. The Saturday Late Show double feature includes “The Blob” followed by “I Married a Monster From Outer Space.” Doors open at 7:30 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show. A separate ticket must be purchased for the evening’s films. BLOBFEST 19 concludes Sunday, July 15, at 2 p.m. with a screening of “The Blob” and “Demon with the Atomic Brain.” Special guests Ricou Browning, Barbara Minty McQueen and Christopher Mihm will greet fans and take part in question-and-answer sessions before and after the films. Farm, Home and Youth Fair: The Farm, Home and Youth Fair will take place Aug. 9, 10 and 11 at the Montgomery County 4-H Center, 1015 Bridge Road, Collegeville. Everyone can participate in this fun-filled, old-school fair. This traditional 4-H Fair will also feature open class exhibits that anyone from the community can enter. Included are flower, vegetable, cooking and baking, photography and craft exhibits that are judged and awarded first-, second- and third-place ribbons. Online registration will open July 6; entries are due to be dropped off at the 4-H Center July 31, Aug. 6 and Aug. 8 for perishable items. The Fair celebrates the culmination of the 4-H project year for Montgomery County 4-H members. This is the 4-H members’ opportunity to show their families, friends and the public their achievements throughout the year. The livestock and animal science 4-H members will have their animals on display and show them and answer questions. Other 4-H clubs will also have their projects on display and will be on hand to promote 4-H and their clubs. The Creamery Crafters Club will hold its Fabric Sale. There will be demonstrations, contests, games, music, an Open Pet Show and food. Activities will include Make-It and Take-It, Fun with Food, Adventures with Herpetology, Rabbit Hopping, Goat Yoga and a Kiddie Tractor Pull. Kendal Conrad, Sound Sensations DJs and the Daisy Jug Band will provide musical entertainment. The horse clubs will offer pony rides and a horse show Aug. 10. Community Festival: The 10th annual St. Teresa of Calcutta Community Festival will take place Wednesday, Aug. 22, to Saturday, Aug. 2,5 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the parish campus on Swamp Pike and Neiffer Road in Limerick Township. Parkinson’s Disease 101: Phoenixville Public Library will host a free presentation, “Parkinson’s Disease 101,” Monday, July 30, at 7 p.m. Wendy R. Lewis, executive director of the Parkinson Council, will be the speaker. More than 1.5 million people in the United States are living with Parkinson’s disease with 50,000 new cases diagnosed every year. While most people develop symptoms in their late 50s or early 60s, approximately 20 percent of all patients are diagnosed at a younger age. And as the “Baby Boomer” generation ages, more working professionals (friends, colleagues, and family members) will be living with the disease. Hootenanny at Camphill Village Kimberton Hills: Hootenanny at Camphill Village Kimberton Hills will be held July 7 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Camphill Village Kimberton Hills, 1601 Pughtown Road, Phoenixville. The event will feature family friendly activities, hayrides, petting zoo, live music, local, organic food from Camphill Kimberton Café, vendors, a raffle and more. BLOBFEST: The Colonial Theatre’s 19th annual BLOBFEST will take place Friday, July 13, through Sunday, July 15, at the theater in Phoenixville. This year is a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the sci-fi film’s release. The kitschy, family friendly event salutes the 1958 classic movie “The Blob” that was filmed in and around Phoenixville and marked Steve McQueen’s first starring role. The event will begin Friday, July 13, with a Stage Show and “Run Out” re-enactment at the theater hosted by BLOBFEST’s own Dr. Frank N. Stone and Dr. Ima Hack. Horror host Mr. Lobo will emcee and will be joined by Dash Daring, Ghoul A Go-Go, The Patient Creatures and The Feet First Dancers. Doors open at 7 p.m. Friday evening culminates with the crowd favorite, the re-enactment of the “Run Out” scene from the movie, at approximately 9 p.m. Tickets for this event are sold out, but fans can still gather outside the theatre to watch the Run Out.
