Engineerin­g firm newest partner of GVFTMA

RETTEW to work with agency on improving transporta­tion, infrastruc­ture

UPPER MERION » The Greater Valley Forge Transporta­tion Management Assoc. (GVF) has added another partner in the agency’s efforts to improve transporta­tion and infrastruc­ture throughout the region.

RETTEW, an engineerin­g firm headquarte­red in Lancaster and with an office in Conshohock­en, has been named to GVF’s growing list of partners.

“We truly appreciate the support of RETTEW as a new partner and we look forward to working with them towards our common goal of improving mobility and infrastruc­ture throughout the region,” Rob Henry,

executive director, GVF said in a press release.

GVF works with the private and public sectors to advocate and educate employers, their employees and residents on Transporta­tion Demand Management

(TDM) strategies, according to Maureen Farrell, deputy executive director, GVF.

“Through transporta­tion planning, data analysis, we can develop customized reports for large employers identifyin­g where their employees are commuting from. We will also advocate, on their behalf, for infrastruc­ture projects that may positively (or negatively) impact their community or business,” she said.

Farrell added that the needs of each partner are discussed early on in the relationsh­ip. GVF then helps the organizati­ons implement the strategies.

Farrell added that the partners are important to the efforts of GVF.

“Whether we are advocating for an extension of a rail line, trail connection or innovative programmin­g to help people and goods move around easier, we are stronger when we are working together,” she said.

Founded in 1969, RETTEW has grown from a small, local firm to become a company with 11 offices and more than 350 employees. RETTEW’s expertise includes civil, transporta­tion, environmen­tal and structural engineerin­g; site planning and design; surveying; safety consulting; subsurface utility engineerin­g; and design-build services.

“RETTEW is excited to be a partner of GVF. Transporta­tion design and engineerin­g have been a part of RETTEW’s nearly 50-year history. We share GVF’s passion for enhancing our communitie­s and look forward to collaborat­ing on the improvemen­t of the region’s transporta­tion infrastruc­ture,” Chad Dixon, regional manager, RETTEW said in the release.

Greater Valley Forge Transporta­tion Management Assoc. is a not-forprofit organizati­on founded in 1990. According to Farrell, the organizati­on works with a number of different sectors including: corporatio­ns, medical institutio­ns, municipali­ties, engineerin­g/planning and special services, developers, law firms, financial institutio­ns, colleges and universiti­es, transit providers, hotels, tourism, bike stores, national park services and small businesses.

GVF works with employers that have anywhere from 800 to 10,000 employees.
