Perk Valley Library receives donation
Funding supports Summer Reading Program
SCHWENKSVILLE » The Summer Reading Program at the Perkiomen Valley Library at Schwenksville, a branch of the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library received a $2,500 donation from Ambler Savings Bank.
The money funded programming throughout the summer, including a LEGO stop-motion workshop, held in June; Dr. Bubbles, held in July; and World of Music with Daria, scheduled for Aug. 8.
As part of the Summer Reading program, the library also purchased books for young readers to encourage them to read throughout the summer and begin to build their own personal libraries.
“We at Ambler Savings Bank, believe the library is an invaluable resource in our communities,” said Bonnie Eckenrode, Branch Manager for Ambler Savings Bank’s Schwenksville branch. “The annual Summer Reading Program is the perfect way for students to learn the importance of libraries and foster their love of reading.
“The library is pleased that Ambler Savings Bank has chosen, once again, to help local
children avoid the summer slide. Summer slide is prevented when children continue to read over the summer and retain their reading
skills. The funds help the library provide fun rewards through a variety of activities to encourage all children to read,” said Aileen Johnson, Perkiomen Valley Library at Schwenksville Manager.
The Summer Reading Program this year is themed
“Libraries Rock” and features events for all ages and interests, including bookthemed parties, magicians, movie nights, and scienceactivity days. The program runs through Aug. 11 and the full schedule of events can be found on the Library’s website, www.PVLibrary.net.
