Baker scores 30, Spring-Ford falls to Norristown in OT

Despite a 30-point outing from senior Noah Baker, the Spring-Ford boys basketball game came up short in a 72-67 overtime loss against Norristown on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Norristown’s Mickeel Allen and Marcus Sanford had four points apiece in overtime of this Pioneer Athletic Conference Liberty Division matchup and the Eagles took care of business at the free-throw line to see off the Rams.

Allen had 12 and Sanford nine while Nizer Kinney had a team-high 16 points for Norristown. PERKIOMEN VALLEY 63,

DANIEL BOONE 39 >> Zach Krause and Tyler Strechay combined for 44 points as the Vikings beat Daniel Boone in a non-conference matchup on Saturday Dec. 8.

Krause scored a gamehigh 24 points while Strechay had 20 for Perk Valley (1-1 overall), which led 38-25 by the half and used a 10-2 run in the third quarter to seal it. Chaunce Johnson paced Boone with 19 points while Jared Tranovich scored 10 with a pair of 3-pointers. CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 53,

SPRING-FORD 44 >> The Rams didn’t have an answer for sharp-shooting guard Jack Mulhern in this non-conference matchup on Saturday, Dec. 8.

Mulhern scored a gamehigh 29 points with seven 3-pointers while Mike Monari and Jack Weci scored eight points apiece to lead the Bucks to the win. Noah Baker paced SpringFord with 18 points while Robert Bobeck scored 12. PHOENIXVIL­LE 65, KENNETT

56>> K.J. Quinn headed a trio of double-figure scorers that keyed the Phantoms’ victory over Kennett in their non-league game on Saturday, Dec. 8.

Quinn hit for 23 points to help Phoenixvil­le pull away in a 24-14 fourth quarter. Dylan Clark added 15 points and Colton Brown 11. SPRING-FORD 69, CENTRAL

BUCKS SOUTH 65 >> The Spring-Ford boys basketball team threw a shutout in overtime Friday, Dec. 7.

The Rams held Central Bucks South scoreless in the extra period for a 69-65 victory in its season opener.

Spring-Ford got 19 points from Noah Baker and 16 from Robert Bobeck. Tyler Sellingo (8 points) had a 3-pointer in OT for the only made shot from the field in the frame. GARNET VALLEY 64, PHOENIXVIL­LE 56 >> The Phantoms dropped their opener to Garnet Valley at the Phoenixvil­le tournament on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Greg Vlassopoul­os had a game-high 19 points and Carl Schaffer went 9 of 10 at the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to seal the Jaguars’ win.

Phoenixvil­le, which made more 3s than 2s, was led by Dylan Clark’s 14 points.

Girls basketball

PHOENIXVIL­LE 60, UPPER

MERION 37 >> Phoenixvil­le had a breakout performanc­e from sophomore Aubrie Breisblatt who scored 25 points (5 3-pointers) in a PAC Frontier matchup on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Breisblatt also had seven rebounds and four steals while Ameerah Green had 17 points and 5 rebounds. OWEN J. ROBERTS 49, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 40 >> Diana Rantz scored nine of her 13 points in the second half as the Wildcats pulled away following a tight first half (25-24 PV) on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Olivia LeClaire had a game-high 16 points for OJR (3-0), which held PV to 15 second-half points. Leading the Vikings was Gabby Marinacci’s 14 points. SPRING-FORD 74, NORRISTOWN 13 >> The Rams’ defense handcuffed the Eagles while their offense went on a tear in this PAC Liberty Division matchup on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Lucy Olsen netted a game-high 16 points, and Abby Goodrich added 11 for a Spring-Ford unit that got scoring from 13 of its 15 players. The Rams built a 63-8 lead through three quarters against Norristown.

PHOENIXVIL­LE 56, CHESTER

29>> The Lady Phantoms closed out their seasonopen­ing tournament with a win over Chester on Saturday, Dec. 8.

Ameerah Green led the way for the Phantoms (20) with 28 points and five steals while Aubrie Breisblatt had nine points, five board and three steals. Marlee Brown added eight points and three steals while Hannah Sands finished with two points and four rebounds. PHOENIXVIL­LE 61, INTERBORO 24 >> The Phantoms got their season off to a flying start, rolling up a victory over Interboro in the opening round of their Phoenixvil­le Tip-Off Tournament on Friday, Dec. 7.

Ameerah Green hit for 22 points and made three steals to head Phoenixvil­le, with Aubrie Breisblatt adding 14 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Marlee Brown chipped in with eight points and five assists while Nailah Green had another nine points.

Boys swimming

BOYERTOWN 90, PHOENIXVIL­LE 80 >> Oliver Tye and Aaron Keifer each won pairs of individual events to lead the Bears in their PAC meet with the Phantoms on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Tye headed the 200 IM (2:20.12) and 100 fly (1:01.49), with Keifer doing the same in the 50 free

(25.75) and 100 free (58.29). Jack Hussin was a two-race winner for Phoenixvil­le, taking the 200 free (2:02.67) and 500 free (4:28.21). PERKIOMEN VALLEY 100, UPPER PERKIOMEN 83 >> Dylan Alexander and Jacob Replogle were winners of two individual races for the Vikings in their PAC meet with the Indians on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Alexander won the 200 free (1:52.87) and 500 free (5:04.34), as did Replogle in the 50 free (23.29) and 100 back (57.65). Sean Lyman (20 IM, 2:07.53) and Kyle Kovalenko (100 breat, 1:01.87) scored first in individual events for UP.

Wrestling

GREAT VALLEY 36, PHOENIXVIL­LE 31 >> Ethan Seeley’s fall in the 195-pound finale lifted the Patriots to victory over the Phantoms in their non-league match on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Phoenixvil­le rallied from a 30-18 deficit to take a onepoint lead through 182, Alex Washington scoring a pin at 170 around decisions by Anthony Stevenson at 160 (major) and David Polanki. The Phantoms’ other points came from pins by Justin Meyers (106) and Antonio Valenteen (120) — they helped Phoenixvil­le to an early 15-9 lead — and Owen Koch’s decision at 145.

POTTSVILLE DUALS >> Phoenixvil­le got a perfect run from Owen Koch while going 2-3 in the Case-Flynn Duals on Saturday, Dec. 8. The Phantoms beat Kutztown (51-24) and Cedar Crest (41-36) but lost to Wyoming Valley West (4732), Pottsville (67-6) and Tunkhannoc­k (57-28).

Koch, a freshman, went 5-0. Teammates Dave Polanski and J.J. Allen both went 3-2 with three pins apiece.

Co-ed bowling

SPRING-FORD SWEEPS >> The Rams took both ends of their non-league match with Exeter on Wednesday, Dec. 12. The Spring-Ford boys handled the Eagles 3-1 while the girls blanked Exeter 4-0.

Matt Hanson led the Ram boys with a 642 series, complement­ed by Matt Anderson (619) and Brennan Doan (603). On the girls’ side, Spring-Ford was headed by Ashley Della Guardia (388), Lauren Black (381) and Ashley Hudak (377). SPRING-FORD 3, POTTSGROVE 1 >> The Rams won both parts of their match with the Falcons by identical 3-1 scores on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Brennan Doan rolled a 604 series to lead the SpringFord boys (7-1), with Colin Templin’s 553 pacing Pottsgrove. On the girls’ side, Ashley Hudak led the way for the Rams (3-5) with her 401 series while Rebecca Delp (362) paced the Falcons.
