Ally Mooney wrapped up a great career with the Shippensburg field hockey team, the Raiders finishing 19-4 after capturing the NCAA Division II Championship with a 1-0 overtime victory over East Stroudsburg on Dec. 1 in Pittsburgh. It was Mooney’s and Shippensburg’s third straight title.

The 5-foot-5 goalkeeper from Spring City and an Owen J. Roberts graduate was named to the All-Tournament team for the third time and finished her career with a 9-1 record in NCAA Tournament play. Her only loss came in the quarterfinals in her freshman season. The Raiders gave up just one goal in three tournament games this season.

The team captain finished with a 6816 record with 24 shutouts for her career.

“Ally played exceptional throughout the tournament,” coach Tara Zollinger said. “She made big saves in key moments that allowed us to keep the momentum going.”

The coach said that Mooney had her eyes set at winning another championship entering this season.

“Ally has made many contributions to the program over her career and has left her legacy of hard work, commitment and passion for her sport, the university, her teammates and the program,” Zollinger said.
