Krazalkovich enters contest for county seat
UPPER POTTSGROVE >> Township Commissioner France Krazalkovich has thrown his hat into the ring in the race for Montgomery County commissioner.
His candidacy increase to three the number of Republicans seeking the two seats that will be available in the November election.
In November, incumbent Commissioner Joe Gale, who won a primary challenge to get the Republican nomination in 2015, announced not only his candidacy for reelection but that he had chosen his brother Sean, 27, as his running mate.
Krazalkovich’s candidacy creates a contest within the Montgomery County Republican Party for a post that has been won by Democrats in the previous two general elections.
A member of the Republican County Committee as well as a township commissioner, Krazalkovich enters the race with the endorsement of state Sen. Bob Mensch, R-24th Dist., who won reelection last November.
“France has been a great leader in local government for years, working hard on issues that matter most to his community,” Mensch is quoted as saying in the release announcing Krazalkovich’s candidacy.
“He is smart, energetic and level headed in his approach to government,” said Mensch. “His track record as a dedicated father and US Air Force veteran only further demonstrate his devotion to family and country”.
Krazalkovich served stateside in the United States Air Force during operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield, completing his four years of service in 1993. In the time since, France has worked as a businessman.
In 2015 he was appointed, then elected, to the Upper Pottsgrove Board of Commissioners — an experience that weighed heavily on his decision to run for countywide office.
If he wins, Krazalkovich will be the first Montgomery County Commissioner in recent memory to be elected from the less densely populated western part of the county.
“It is an honor serving my neighbors in Upper Pottsgrove, and being a local elected official is a job I truly enjoy,” Krazalkovich said in the release.
“The trust consistently placed in me by the community is humbling, and I feel we have made major strides in the last four years. But now we need committed leadership at the county level, and once again I’m ready to serve,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to meeting new neighbors throughout the county, as many as I can, to hear their concerns and find out how we can work together to solve them,” Krazalkovich said.
Three seats are open on the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners in 2019. In addition to Joe Gale, the other incumbents are Democrats Val Arkoosh and Kenneth Lawrence Jr.
