Kyle Dix missed his sophomore season with the Bloomsburg men’s swim team recovering from double labrum surgery on his shoulders. It wasn’t sure what to expect from the junior this season but he has shown the coaching staff and his teammates he hasn’t missed a beat and is performance against Penn State on Jan. 19 in University Park was a jaw-dropper.

Dix, from Schwenksville and a Perkiomen Valley, won both of his events against the Nittany Lions who won the meet 151-104. He captured the 50 freestyle in 20.92. Then, he took the 100 butterfly in 50.20. And, he swam legs on both the 200 medley and 200 free relays that finished third, the latter awarded first place because Penn State’s teams swam as an exhibition.

The performance earned Dix PSAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week honors last Tuesday. It’s the third time this season that he’s earned the honor.

“Kyle continues to amaze both the staff and his teammates with his performances,” coach Stu Marvin said. “He is currently ranked 14th in Division II in the 100 fly and 23rd in the 50 free so his chances of returning to the NCAA Championships for a third time are very good at this stage of the season. His effort in the butterfly against Penn State was encouraging because of the demand it places on the shoulders.”

Dix was an All-American in his first two seasons with the Huskies and holds the school record in the 200 freestyle (1:40.43) and is a member of all five recordbreaking relay teams. He also stands second in the 100 butterfly (48.56) and 200 butterfly (1:51.44), is third in the 50 free (20.07) and 100 free (45.08) and fourth in the 200 IM (55.25) on the school’s all-time performance list.

The redshirt sophomore heavyweight improved to 13-2 on the season for the Lehigh wrestling team with its fifth straight dual win, 28-6 over Navy on Jan. 20. Wood was ranked No. 4 at 285 in the first NCA A Wrestling Coaches’ Panel Rankings, released on Jan. 24.

Lehigh is 5-7 on the dual season but is 4-1 in the Eastern Interscholastic Wrestling Association standings, trailing only Army (5-0).

“He’s been getting better and better but we hadn’t seen it in the matches yet,” head coach Pat Santoro said of Resnick (2-10). “Getting two takedowns yesterday and another today, he’s starting to believe now. That can take him a long way.”
