Bite to the Fight
Culinary event benefits families battling pediatric cancer
KIMBERTON >> The Fight On Makenna Foundation hosted its first “Bite for the Fight” Food Festival at the Kimberton Fairgrounds over the weekend.
Headlined by celebrity chef Robert Irvine, “Bite for the Fight” plans to become the region’s premier culinary event.
Guests who purchased tickets to the event had the chance to sample and vote for the Best Bite from over 20 of the top local restaurants from the Delaware Valley, while tasting local craft brews, fine wines, and cocktails served up by craft distilleries.
“The event is in honor of a beautiful little girl who was full of life and fought until the end,” said SportsRadio 94 WIP’s and longtime advocate of the Fight On Makenna Foundation, Howard Eskin. “Having Chef Robert Irvine makes it even more special.”
Event guests also took part in an auction for the chance to win various prizes and experiences donated from area businesses and organizations.
The Fight On Makenna Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life of pediatric cancer patients and their families during inpatient and outpatient treatments. The foundation works toward this mission by funding programs and supporting other charitable organizations striving to help children and families battle through the rigors of cancer treatments.
Named for the late Makenna Ann Massi, the foundation was formed to bring her fighting spirit to those children and families who need it most in their battle against pediatric cancer. Makenna’s parents, Rich and Michelle, and their family live in the Pottstown-area.
