Holy Cross Regional Catholic School in Collegeville hosts raffle basket event
UPPER PROVIDENCE >> The streets of Philadelphia extended into the suburbs on a recent Friday night, all the way to Royersford.
Holy Cross Regional Catholic School of Collegeville hosted the annual Basket Raffle at Pope John Paul II High School gym.
The Philadelphia theme was carried through in the wall murals, attendees’ attire, street name entitled tables, and even in the hundreds of prizes. There were 2 50/50 drawings and over 220 baskets, many contained a collection of donations from local businesses.
Holy Cross teachers created a prize basket made of their favorite “Philly” things; Tastykakes, Tory Burch jewelry, Philadelphia Zoo passes, and a Phillies T-shirt. There was a cash prize, made of bills featuring Founding Fathers Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton, and Franklin.
Other exciting and coveted prizes included “Hamilton”
tickets, Sixers tickets, Blue Tree Landscaping packages, a Disney World trip, and a Louis Vuitton handbag. The Zoo, Art Museum, pro sports teams, Ben Franklin’s electric experiment, and Phillie Phanatic were depicted on murals painted by all students at the school.
The Basket Raffle attendees weren’t the only winners celebrating that night.
Cheers and roars erupted from the crowd when the winner of the District 1/12 Class 3A Championship game was announced; Pope John Paul II 29 NeumannGoretti 28!
