Phoenixvil­le Police respond to 148 calls in one week

Phoenixvil­le Police responded to 148 calls for service, including 19 traffic accidents, between Dec. 6 and Dec. 13.

The following is a brief summary of notable incidents as reported by Phoenixvil­le Police on their Facebook page:

• On Dec. 6 at 4:34 p.m., police responded to the Goodwill store for the report of a disturbanc­e. Two 57-year-old women had a disagreeme­nt over parking lot driving etiquette and the dispute escalated into a profanity laced throw down. One of the women slapped a cell phone out of the other woman’s hand and then grabbed her and threw her to the ground. A witness confirmed who the aggressor was and officers found her hiding in the woods behind the shopping center after a brief search. She was issued summonses for disorderly conduct and harassment.

• On Dec. 6 at 5:02 p.m., police responded to TD Alfredo’s pizzeria for the report of a disturbanc­e involving two customers. The customers left the restaurant before the police arrived.

• On Dec. 7 at 1:39 a.m., Officer Fonseca’s tag reader hit on an occupied parked car with Jersey tags in the 200 block of Church Street. The informatio­n indicated that the car’s owner had a warrant for his arrest in the Garden State. The officer approached the car and the occupant was smoking a marijuana joint. Turns out he was not wanted but he recently bought the car from the wanted man. The 35-yearold Pottstown man was issued a violation notice for the marijuana ordinance.

• On Dec. 7 at 1:48 a.m., a 34-year-old Lykens, PA man was issued a violation notice for the open container ordinance after Sgt. Sutton saw him drinking a Pabst Blue Ribbon beer as he walked on Main Street.

• On Dec. 7 at 2:25 a.m., police responded to Molly Maguire’s Pub for the report of a fight. When they arrived, a man was being restrained by a bouncer at the entrance to the establishm­ent. The officers gave the 22-year-old Collegevil­le man an opportunit­y to walk away but he insisted on staying and became confrontat­ional with the officers so he was arrested.

• On Dec. 7 at 6:34 p.m., police responded to the 200 block of Bridge Street for the report of a man walking down the sidewalk wearing a gas mask. Officer Brown located the man and he explained that he was engaged in a cosplay activity and was headed to the Firebird Festival.

• On Dec. 7 at 8:30 p.m., a 26-year-old Royersford man and festival volunteer, decided to go streaking around the burning Phoenix at the Firebird Festivalto the dismay of many parents who were present with their young children. Stephen

Leasa was quickly corralled by event security and police. Leasa was charged with indecent exposure and sent to the county jail.

• On Dec. 7 at 10:52 p.m., Officer Fonseca stopped the driver of a Chevy sedan with a taillight out in the 600 block of Nutt Road. The driver, a 20-year-old Phoenixvil­le man, was traveling with marijuana and ecstasy in his car which is against the law. He was arrested and charged with the drug violation.

• On Dec. 9 at 11:44 p.m., police responded to the Mainstay Inn for the report of an intoxicate­d person in the lobby. Officers located the man and he was so drunk he could not standup or function on his own. The 60-year-old Phoenixvil­le man was arrested for public drunkennes­s and released when he was sober.

• On Dec. 10 at 2:34 a.m., police responded to an apartment in the 100 block of Bridge Street for the report of an unwanted person.

The caller reported that her unwelcome boyfriend was drunk and standing outside her apartment banging on the door. Officers located the scorned boyfriend on Main Street and he explained that he called for an Uber and was going home.

• On Dec. 10 at 7:36 p.m., Cpl. MacDonald stopped the driver of a Chevy Traverse for going through two red lights downtown and discovered that the driver was also neglectful with other customary driving practicesl­ike having a license and insurance and registerin­g his car. The 26-year-old Phoenixvil­le man was issued traffic tickets for the violations and his car was towed.

• On Dec. 12 at 3:18 a.m., a resident in the 100 block of Bridge Street called 911 and requested a call back from a police officer or one of The Beatles. Paul and Ringo were unavailabl­e so the resident got a call from Officer Brown.

• On Dec. 12 at 4:48 p.m.,

Pottstown Police arrested Lana Hanna, 36 of Royersford, for public drunkennes­s and realized she had a warrant for her arrest related to a prior drug incident in Phoenixvil­le. Hanna was detained in the county prison in Eagleville.

• On Dec. 12 at 9:56 p.m., police responded to a church in the 100 block of Church Street for a noise complaint. The caller reported that an Our Lady of Guadalupe band was playing too loudly at a pilgrimage celebratio­n. The noise ordinance did not begin until 10 p.m.…so the band played on for four more minutes.

• On Dec. 13 at 12:20 a.m., Officer Brown noticed a woman sleeping in a parked car near the intersecti­on of Main Street and High Street and checked on her. The 38-year-old woman told the officer that she just got home from work and must have fallen asleep in front of her home. She went inside for the night.
