Township police to host Virtual Citizens’ Police Academy
EAST PIKELAND » The East Pikeland Township Police Department will conduct its first Virtual Citizens’ Police Academy on Wednesdays starting July 15 via Zoom.
The Citizens’ Police Academy is an innovative concept in community policing. It allows everyday citizens a glimpse into the operation, decisions and challenges faced by police officers daily.
Topics will include K-9’s, Use of Force, Drugs, and a multitude of other police operations.
Also, participants will be able to see real life “shoot/ don’t shoot” scenarios in a firearms simulator.
“We hope to answer your questions and address your concerns about police work.
We want to build a transparent, trusting, and understanding relationship between the public and their police,” Officer Daniel Corbo said in a press release announcing the academy. “Our goal is to provide an opportunity for insight into the operations of local police departments and give the public education on safely being proactive in protecting their community.”
The program is open to all. If you are interested, you can obtain additional information by contacting: Officer Daniel Corbo #116 610-935-0606 x433 dcorbo@eastpikeland.org
