Chester County Art Associatio­n gets new director

WEST CHESTER >> The Chester County Art Associatio­n is taking its first step toward reopening and starting its 91st year serving the arts community in Chester County by announcing the appointmen­t of Caitlin LaPorte as the Director of the Associatio­n. LaPorte will begin her service as director on March 8.

John Baker, president of the board of directors, said, on behalf of the Board: “As we look to restart our programmin­g and offer classes, summer camps, and exhibits in the post-COVID world, we are delighted to have Ms. LaPorte working closely with our core of teachers and committed volunteers.”

LaPorte is not new to the Chester County Art Associatio­n having served as an intern while pursuing her degree at West Chester University.

She has served in various roles, profession­al and volunteer, at other non-profit organizati­ons including Variety — The Children’s Charity of the Delaware Valley, Conner Prairie Museum, The People’s History Museum (Manchester, UK), and Art with a Heart Indianapol­is. She also earned a postgradua­te diploma in

Art Gallery and Museum Studies from the University of Manchester in the UK.

The Art Associatio­n was a catalyst for my growth and passion for the arts. I look forward to helping others find their spark through the arts. We have much work to do, especially as we move through the pandemic, and I am eager to begin,” said

LaPorte.

As director, LaPorte will work closely with artists, members, teachers and the Board to ensure the organizati­on can continue to adapt to serve people and nonprofits. One of her first acts as director will be to oversee the planning for the associatio­n’s signature summer arts camps.

The Chester County Art Associatio­n is a small, nonprofit, art organizati­on dedicated to educating, inspiring and connecting the people of Chester County to and through the arts.
