Carlo Joseph Seiscio

-

Carlo Joseph Seiscio, 81, of Phoenixville, PA passed away in his home on March 16th, 2021, one month shy of his 82nd birthday. He was the husband of the late Adele Bane Seiscio, who pre- deceases him by six months. Carlo is a 1959 graduate of Spring Ford High School where he graduated with honors and was voted “Best Dancer” in his class. He is also a 1963 graduate of West Chester University, where he majored in cultural geography and was one of only five students in his graduating class to place in the 99th percentile on the Purdue University English Exam. While at West Chester, he was the assistant editor – in – chief of the yearbook, Serpentine, was president of the Geographic Honor Society, served on Executive Council, and was on the golf team. Upon graduation, Carlo worked at St. Pius High School as a Social Studies teacher and continued his education by earning his Masters of Education at West Chester University and his PhD in Cultural Geography (really Dad – you couldn’t pick something a little more exciting??) through Nova University. He then began his long career at Montgomery College Community College in 1966, where he worked until 2001 as a professor of cultural geography and also as a professor of economics. Additionally, he served as a Montgomery County Township Commissioner from 1977 until 1988. He was also a member of the International Optimist Club and volunteered at both St. Aloysius Church and also actively volunteered at Daylesford Abby in Paoli, where he was a member since 2005. Ever the craftsman, he opened his beloved “Doctor’s Woodshop” in 1982, where he loved to build colonial Williamsburg replicas and shoot the breeze with his friends. In addition to working at Montgomery County Community College, he also worked as an adjunct professor at both Villanova and Temple Universities, but his heart belonged to Villanova and was a huge Villanova basketball fan. Always learning, he learned to sail and earned his sailing license in 1992. From that day forward, he could be found on his boat, or working on his boat, in the Chesapeake Bay. Up until his 75th year of life, he was s-t-i-l-l learning by taking opera classes at his beloved West Chester. Carlo had a great sense of humor and a sharp wit and was known for his clever one – liners. He was larger – than – life and had a HUGE, gregarious, personality. He loved to travel, to golf, to build, to sail, to “smoke his pipe in peace,” to learn, to dance, and to eat spaghetti and meatballs. He had a loving heart and was ALWAYS willing to help anyone he could. He is survived by his son, Andrew Robert Seiscio, his daughter, Merri Jill Macauley, his two gorgeous grandchildren, Katie and Erik, his beloved dog and confidant Newton, and the countless people that were fortunate and blessed enough to have met him. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, March 27 th from 10:00 – 11:00 at Daylesford Abbey: 220 S. Valley Road, Paoli. A mass of Christian burial will follow directly. Interment will follow at The Baptist Church of the Great Valley, 945 N. Valley Forge Road, Devon. In lieu of flowers, Carlo would simply want you to do something nice for someone, to “maintain your coolness,” and to dance.
