GOP fares well in northern Chester County races
Voters split the ticket in East Vincent
Republicans won twice as many municipal races as Democrats this year in the contested races for open township supervisor and borough council seats in northern Chester County.
According to unofficial results from Chester County, Republicans won in six municipalities while Democrats won in three, with voters in one township, East Vincent, splitting the ticket, electing one Republican and one Democrat.
Here is a round-up of the unofficial results.
East Coventry
The two Republican incumbents easily won reelection to the two open seats on the board of supervisors.
Michael Moyer and Anthony Duffy were both reelected by comfortable margins, according to unofficial results from the Chester County elections office.
Both incumbents won 901 votes.
Their Democratic opponents, Stephen Schur and Don Foy won 763 and 770 votes collectively.
South Coventry
Incumbent Republican Timothy Blevins easily fended off a challenge from Democrat Nicola Whitlock in the township supervisor race.
According to unofficial election results, Blevins collected 523 to 380 votes for Whitlock.
Four Republicans, two of them incumbents, took the four open seats on borough council, easily edging out Democrat Kimberly Reber.
According to unofficial election results, Reber collected only 206 votes.
Incumbents Merle Stolttzfus and Bob Clements won 366 and 363 votes, respectively. Their running mates, Dennis Kurtz and Tom Feeley, won 365 and 363 votes, respectively.
Republican Michael Trojecki was unopposed for the seat with two years remaining on the term and he won 405 votes.
East Nantmeal
Incumbent Republican Robert Loomis Jr. collected 457 votes to secure reelection to the township board of supervisors’ only open seat, according to unofficial results.
Democrat Diana Cormack trailed far behind with 297 votes.
East Pikeland
Incumbent Democrat Ronald M. Graham retained his seat on the township board of supervisors for another six years, winning 1,454 votes, according to unofficial results.
His Republican opponent Anthony J. Lauletta collected 1,013 votes.
The race for the seat with only two years left in the term, was won by incumbent Democrat Emily Gorge with 1,479 votes. The Republican
challenger, Daniel Willis, earned 1,137 votes.
West Pikeland
Republican Charlie Humphreys, chairman of the township board of supervisors, won reelection with 769 votes, as compared to the 664 votes won by Democratic challenger Bryan Maher,
And incumbent Republican Richard Bright won the right to complete the two years left on the term of a second seat, winning 769 votes to the 664 won by Democrat Ashton Simmons.
Schuylkill Twp.
Democrat Danielle Jouenne won a seat on the board of supervisors with 1,424 votes, according to unofficial results.
Her Republican opponent, Tom Fortmann, collected 1,275 votes.
East Vincent
Voters split their ticket for two open seats on the threemember board of supervisors.
Republican Craig Damon easily won the seat with six years on its term with 1,213 votes, compared to the 825 won by Democrat Endre Walls.
In the race for the seat with two years left on its term, Democrat Beth Flor won with 1,122 votes, compared to the 975 collected by Republican Austin Hodge.
West Vincent
Despite being in a severe car accident weeks before the election, Democrat Dana Alan won election to the township board of supervisors with 1,158 votes, defeating Republican Thomas Helwig, who collected 961 votes.
