Thinking about a new kitchen in the new year? Learn about modern kitchen design in a free virtual presentati­on hosted by Phoenixvil­le Public Library on Thursday, Jan. 20, at 7:00 PM. The presentati­on will be given by Liz Walton, a locally acclaimed design leader, certified kitchen designer, and CEO of her fullservic­e, luxury interior design firm, Liz Walton Home. Topics she will cover include: does the “triangle” still exist?; defining work zones; appliances; design tips; common mistakes; and the future of kitchens. Inquirer and MyDomaine. Today, she is recognized as the “go-to” luxury designer and trusted project advisor to high-profile, profession­al families in Philadelph­ia. Hidden design resources, passionate expertise, and a tailored, turn-key approach to each family are the hallmarks of Liz’s projects. The next program in the Community Gardening around the Village series will be a hands-on “Herbal Tea Making Workshop” at Phoenixvil­le Public Library on Monday, Jan. 24, at 7:00 PM. Martha Napolitan Cownap, herb gardener at Camphill Kimberton Hills, will lead the program. Come to the Library to learn how to use various yummy and medicinal tea herbs. We will smell and taste various dried herbs that have been grown locally, discuss their health benefits, and fill a few tea sachets for you to take home. This event is free and open to the public. Books on Tap, Phoenixvil­le Public Library’s book discussion group for adults in their 20s and 30s, will meet online Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 7:00 PM. The group will discuss The Hob’s Bargain by Patricia Briggs. Hated and feared, magic was banished from the land. But now, freed from the spells of the wicked blood mages, magic—good and evil—returns. Aren of Fallbrook feels her own powers of sight strengthen and grow. Overcome by mayhem and murder, Aren vows to save her village from the ruthless raiders who have descended upon it and killed her family. When the wildlings return to hills and forests, she strikes a bargain with the Hob, a magical humanlike creature imbued with the powers of the mountains. But the Hob is the last of his kind and will exact a heavy price to defend the village, and Aren must pay. This event is free and open to the public and will be held online via Zoom.
