MCCC to host online program on Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
WHITPAIN/POTTSTOWN — Montgomery County Community College will be hosting an online reflection gathering Monday, Jan. 17, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. to remember and honor the life, legacy and profound impact of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The event is open to the community and everyone is welcome to join via Zoom. To register, visit mc3.edu/calendar and click on “Learn More” for Jan. 17.
The online gathering will be a time to focus on
Dr. King’s deep compas- sion and care for the poor
and dispossessed and how his life’s commitment for
social and racial justice serves as an inspiring example to continue his work.
The presenters for the event include Rev. Dr. Charles Howard, university chaplain and vice president for social equity and community at the University of Pennsylvania; Rev. William Gipson, special adviser to the vice president at the University of Pennsylvania; and Dr. Keima Sheriff, MCCC dean of holistic support.
“We welcome everyone to join us for this special event that will highlight Dr. King and his life’s dedication to civil rights,” said Joseph Sun, MCCC Diversity,
Equity & Inclusion Program Manager. “We hope this gathering will help us both remember Dr. King’s legacy and motivate us individually and collectively to continue this work.”
In addition to the reflection gathering, MCCC students and employees will be participating in Virtual Safe Space Training sessions. These online sessions will help attendees gain a better understanding of LGBTQ+ issues, the major civil rights events in the LGQBT+ community and practical ways to support this community.
