Jefferson’s Timko gets conference honor

Men’s Basketball

ERIK TIMKO (AUDUBON/ METHACTON) » The Jefferson University freshman picked up right where he left off in 2021 by earning his fourth Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week honor on Monday.

In the team’s first game since Dec. 18, Timko scored 23 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range, to help the Rams knock off #13/10 Dominican, 87-72, on Saturday. Timko currently leads the CACC in scoring at 20.8 points per game.

NICK GUADARRAMA (PERKIOMEN SCHOOL) » The University of New Hampshire senior forward scored a season-high 32 points in a 64-62 win over Albany on Saturday. Guadarrama went 11-for-16 from the field, including 5-for-7 from 3-point range to lead the Wildcats (6-5) to their first America East win of the season.

Guadarrama, an America East All-Conference Second Team player last season is averaging 12.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game in his final season at

New Hampshire, which all rank second on the team. The senior is currently at 930 career points, giving him a chance to become the 34th player in New Hampshire history to reach the 1,000-point milestone. DAVID DUDA (COLLEGEVIL­LE/ METHACTON) » The East Stroudsbur­g redshirt-sophomore guard broke out for a career-high 19 points in the Warriors’ 113-90 win at Mansfield on Wednesday. Duda shot 7-of-12 from the field, including 4-for-9 from three, and added three assists in 31 minutes.

Duda has seen action in all 10 games for East Stroudsbur­g, averaging 3.4 points per game.

AVERY CLOSE (PHOENIXVIL­LE/

PHOENIXVIL­LE) » The Gettysburg senior forward had an efficient outing in his team’s 77-65 win over Ursinus. College. Close scored 12 points in 19 minutes, shooting 6-for-10 from the field, and grabbed six rebounds in the victory. Close is averaging 9.7 points and 5.1 rebounds in 17.2 minutes per game.

Women’s Basketball

TAYLOR HAMM (PERKIOMEN VALLEY) » University of Sciences senior forward Taylor Hamm recorded her second career doubledoub­le, leading all players with a career-high 17 points on 6-for-10 shooting, 12 rebounds and five assists, and No. 14 USciences cruised by Holy Family 65-39 on Jan. 5. University of Sciences, which had not played since Dec. 19, improved to 9-1. Hamm averages 5.9 points per game.

KYLIE WEBB (BOYERTOWN) » Senior guard Kylie Webb helped Salisbury to its 10th straight win on Saturday with a 64-47 win over Ursinus. Webb had six points, four rebounds and three assists against Ursinus. In Wednesday’s 68-55 win at Lancaster Bible College, Webb scored 14 points and had six rebounds and three steals. Sophomore starters Kelly Owens (17 points) and Elise Sylvester (12) combined for 29 points. Owens (11.3 ppg) knocked down five 3-pointers while Sylvester (9.6 ppg) had 10 assists

» Freshman guard Boyer had a hand in Immaculata’s come-from-behind 6257 overtime classic victory against Marywood on Wednesday to start Atlantic East Conference play. Boyer hit a 3-pointer in overtime as part of her eight-point game. She is averaging 5.4 points per game for the Mighty Macs.

Wrestling

MATT WILDE (BOYERTOWN/ BOYERTOWN) » Wilde helped 12th-ranked Kutztown University wrestling team post three commanding victories at the 2022 KU Duals inside Keystone Arena. The Golden Bears (4-0) opened with a 38-7 defeat of 24th-ranked American Internatio­nal, before going on to beat Queens (N.C.) 44-7 and Glenville State, 38-12.

Wilde started out by producing four takedowns and nearly came up with a major before settling for a 9-2 decision over AI’s Jerry Echevarria at 125 pounds. He was back to his pointscori­ng ways with five takedowns in a 13-2 major decision against Queens’ Melvin Rubio, then notched his first pin of the season at 3:21 against Glenville’s Brady Layman.

KIBWE MCNAIR (LANSDALE/ METHACTON) » Another Kutztown grappler, the freshman won his first career dual match at 149 and did so in impressive fashion. McNair totaled four takedowns en route to an 11-1 major decision over Lucas Comroe in the Queens match.

JORDAN WOOD (GILBERTSVI­LLE/BOYERTOWN) » The

wrestler at No. 17 Lehigh earned a pair of weekend wins in dual meet wins over Binghamton and No. 8 Cornell. Wood edged Binghamton’s Joe Doyle 3-2 on Friday to cap a 24-14 win. He had a less tense finish in a 9-3 win over No. 18 Lewis Fernandes of Cornell on Saturday and improved to 11-1. Against Cornell, Eli Jones (Perkiomenv­ille/ Boyertown) got his first career dual meet start at 197 pounds. The senior (sophomore eligibilit­y) lost by major decision.
