Maria Teresia Foerster

Maria Teresia Foerster, age 85, of Phoenixvil­le, Pa., passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Born on September 24, 1936, in Lendersdor­f, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Hubert and Anna Katharina (Fett) Foerster.

As a young athletic woman, Maria placed in many local events in running and jumping in track and field. She was also a well-decorated, regionally known ballroom dancer. She travelled throughout Europe. After high school she went onto business school and landed a job in the office staff for an air base. She then crossed the English Channel and became a nanny in England, where she met her former husband Reginald Sutton.

Maria’s favorite role was being the mother to her five children – a role she held in high regards and did with the highest attention to detail. She was a devout member of St. Ann Catholic Church. Maria volunteere­d a lot of time to helping her community.

She helped deliver food with Meals on Wheels, cleaned linens for the rectory, and volunteere­d at a women’s shelter. Secondary to her homemaking, she also owned and operated her own cleaning services. Maria was very outgoing, and had many friends. In her free time, she enjoyed skiing, dancing, tennis and travelling. She spent everyday celebratin­g life with her family and friends.

Maria Foerster is survived by her children, Bernadette Loughery, Patricia (Frank) Mazzeo, Wendy (Glenn) Hamilton; Richard (Sandy) Sutton, Andrew Michael Sutton; brother, KarlMatthi­as (Inga) Foerster; nine granddaugh­ters, Melissa Banzet, Jessica Loughery, Alexandria Sutton, Madison Foerster Sutton, Michaela Mazzeo, Isabella Mazzeo, Alexa Mazzeo, Jamie Hamilton, and Lindsay Hamilton; four grandsons, Michael Loughery, Joseph Loughery, Zachariah Sutton, and Domenico Mazzeo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass at St. Ann Church, Main Street at Third Avenue, Phoenixvil­le, Pennsylvan­ia on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 11:00 am. Officiatin­g will be Rev. John J. Newns. Burial will be held in the St. Ann Cemetery, Phoenixvil­le, Pennsylvan­ia. Friends will be received from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, Wednesday at St. Ann Church.
