Pest Management

Phoenixvil­le Public Library will host the next virtual presentati­on in the partner-sponsored “Community Gardening around the Village” series, on Monday, June 13, at 7:00 PM. Klielle Glanzburg-Krainin, Gardening Director of the Chester County Food Bank, will present a free “Pest Management Workshop.” With temperatur­es warming up, garden pests are starting to emerge. Now is a great time to learn about pest ID and management! This virtual workshop will include photos of common garden pests found in our area as well as best practices for managing them with the Integrated Pest Management approach. This event is free and open to the public and will be held online via Zoom. ESL Program

Phoenixvil­le Public Library will host a weekly, in-person ESL Conversati­on Group, in conjunctio­n with the Volunteer English Program, on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 7:00 PM beginning June 14. This free group is for non-native English speakers who want to practice English conversati­on. Baseball History

Phoenixvil­le Public Library will host a free, inperson presentati­on, “Negro League Baseball in Phoenixvil­le”, on Tuesday, June 14, at 6:00 PM. Rosalyn Shecklefor­d will be the speaker. Join us for an overview of Negro League Baseball from its inception through its experience­s in Phoenixvil­le. Attendees will enjoy a pictorial account of the beginning of baseball in the mid-1800s, review the ten most prominent past Negro baseball players, and take a trip down memory lane with Negro baseball in Phoenixvil­le from 1938 through 1952 and beyond. In addition, Zamelia Doswell of Black Light Projects will be on hand to preview Phoenixvil­le’s upcoming Juneteenth celebratio­n. This event is free and open to the public.
