Free Legal Clinic
Phoenixville Public Library is hosting a free Legal Outreach Clinic on Mondays from 5:30 to 7 PM. Consolo & Harbison offers this free clinic, providing information, counseling, and advocacy in various areas of law, including family law, trust & estates, criminal defense, landlordtenant law, and legal issues facing small businesses. Attendees will receive a free 20-minute consultation with an attorney on a firstcome, first-served basis. No appointments will be taken. Phoenix Book Club
The Phoenix Book Club, Phoenixville Public Library’s online book discussion group for adults of all ages, will meet virtually on Monday, Jan. 9, at 7 PM. The group will discuss Maggie O’Farrell’s award-winning bestseller, “Hamnet: A Novel of the Plague.” England, 1580. A young Latin tutor — penniless, bullied by a violent father — falls in love with an extraordinary, eccentric young woman. Agnes is known for her healing gifts and knowledge of plants, animals and potions. Settling with her husband in Stratford, she becomes a fiercely protective mother as well as a force in her husband’s writing life. The story of a family shattered by grief when their beloved son succumbs to the bubonic plague. This event is free and open to the public and will be held online via Zoom. Investment advice
Phoenixville Public Library will host a free Zoom presentation, “Investment Concerns in a Fragile Market”, on Monday, Jan. 9, at 7 PM. Mark Lange of the Society for Financial Awareness (SOFA) will be the speaker. His presentation will cover: how to grow your money wisely; why down markets create investment opportunities for wise investors with a plan; why having a game plan before market volatility arrives is important to success; and more. Movies on Tap, Phoenixville Public Library’s film discussion group for twenty- and thirty-something adults, will meet virtually on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 7:30 PM. The group will discuss “Kedi” (2016, not rated), the award-winning documentary profile of an ancient city, Istanbul, and its unique people, seen through the eyes of the most mysterious and beloved animal humans have ever known, the Cat.
