Organizing Photos

Phoenixville Public Library will host a free presentation, “Save-Organize-Share (SOS) Your Digital Photos” on Monday, Jan. 23, at 6:30 PM. Terri McDowell, Lead Ambassador for Forever, will be the presenter. Are your photos overwhelming you? Do you have digital pictures on the computer, cameras, external hard drives, SD cards, phones, tablets, and computers? Do you have printed pictures in boxes, drawers, and closets? Would you like to find a favorite photo but have no idea where it would be? Are you afraid of losing your digital photos if your computer crashes or your phone is lost? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this class is for you. This class will help you to know what to look for when tackling your photo mess so you can turn it into a beautiful, organized collection of memories that your family will enjoy for generations. McDowell will show you the basics of photo organization, as well as the different options available for digitizing media, considerations for storing photos and video, and the importance of saving, organizing, and sharing your precious memories and photos. This event is free and open to the public. The event will be livestreamed on Zoom for those unable to attend in person. Registration is required at https://ccls.libcal.com/calendar/Phoenixville/save-organize-share or by calling 610-933-3013 x132. Community Gardening

Phoenixville Public Library will host the next presentation in the community sponsored “Community Gardening around the Village” series on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 6:45 PM. “Native Plants in the Landscape” will be presented by Jessie Shiffler of Wild Ones. Learn the importance of and ways to reduce turfgrass lawns and plant native plants to increase ecosystem function for all flora and fauna, including pollinators. Hear about the actionable steps you can take to increase biodiversity, beautify your property, improve forage and bring life to your yard. About six years ago, as a Girl Scout leader, Jessie Shiffler led a program teaching teen-aged girls about the carbon impacts of growing food. In the process, she was inspired to start a small vegetable garden and discovered the joy of growing plants. While at a beekeeping meeting about a year later, she noticed an amazing amount of insect activity on a particular plant, and after some research, learned that it was Mountain Mint — a native. That one plant started a lifechanging journey of learning about all the wonderful benefits of natives! In January 2021, Jessie started a local chapter of the national nonprofit group, Wild Ones, to help spread this message and to get native plants out in everyone’s landscapes. Help her heal the Earth, one yard at a time! This event is free and open to the public. The event will be livestreamed on Zoom for those unable to attend in person.
