The body of Jennifer Brown, a 43-yearold Limerick Township woman who had been missing since Jan. 3, was discovered on a Royersford property on Wednesday by a bystander who alerted police and the results of an autopsy are still pending, authorities revealed on Thursday.

“The cause of death is pending further investigation and forensic testing,” Montgomery County Coroner

Michael Milbourne said in a statement regarding his investigation into Brown’s death.

District Attorney Kevin R. Steele announced the discovery of Brown’s body during a news conference on Wednesday evening. Additional details about the discovery were made public by Milbourne on Thursday.

According to Milbourne, at 3 p.m. Jan. 18, the coroner’s office was dispatched to the scene of a business property on Spring Street in Royersford.

“A body was found by a bystander on the property and alerted local police. Deputies responded to the scene, arriving at 4:20 p.m., and participated in a multi-agency investigation,” Milbourne wrote in

the release.

Milbourne said the coroner’s office, which positively identified Brown, is responsible for determining the cause and manner of death through investigation, examination and forensic testing.

During a 5 p.m. news conference on Wednesday, Steele said Brown’s body was found partially buried at the Royersford location.

“Unfortunately, I have to announce that we have found Jennifer Brown who we have been looking for and she is dead. Unfortunately, she has been located out in Royersford

and we’ve been able to confirm that it was her, so our thoughts and prayers go out to Miss Brown’s family and friends at this time,” Steele said at the time. “We hoped and prayed that she would be safe and she is not.”

Steele did not reveal more specific details about the Royersford location where Brown’s body was discovered and he said the investigation was continuing.

The district attorney’s office did not release any other information on Thursday.

Brown was last seen at 2

p.m., Jan. 3 by a friend and business associate, authorities said previously.

Brown, according to authorities, was scheduled to pick up her 8-year-old son from a bus stop the following afternoon on Jan. 4, but did not show up. Her vehicle was parked outside of her home and her car keys, wallet, purse and work cellphone were found inside the residence, authorities said.

Brown’s personal cellphone had not been found and had not been communicating since the morning of Jan. 4, authorities previously revealed.

Steele said Brown was “a devoted mother” and by all accounts “she would have never left him unattended and unsupervised.”

In the days after Brown went missing, her family offered a $15,000 reward for information about her whereabouts. Friends and family of the woman also held a candlelight vigil and created a Facebook page to share information.

During the investigation, authorities had searched a Berks County landfill. Steele previously said authorities had received hundreds of tips from the general public.
