Jail program changing lives
MARSHALL COUNTY — Nate Crawford of ancilla Domini College of Marian University spoke with participants in the Jail Chemical addiction Program (JCAP) at the Marshall County Jail Wednesday. Director of Programs Joshua Pitts MS, LCAC arranged for the presentation to provide participants with information on the opportunities available to them to continue their education and enhance their skills upon release from incarceration.
Pitts continues to seek out life enrichment opportunities for those who have dedicated their lives to recovery. Participant Jason Irwin penned an original piece titled, “They Saved My Life”, a personal reflection of his experience which can be read on page a3.
Pitts said of Irwin, “I truly appreciate that Jason believes our program is helping him. I think a program like ours is meant to help participants think differently which in turn leads to behavior change. Jason is fully capable of a better life and my true hope for him as well as
all the participants is they leave here better people than when they arrived and they stay focused on their goals and their recovery.”
Individuals, churches, businesses and non-profit organizations who have resources or services they would like to make available to inmates and their families to enrich their lives through their recovery process are encouraged to contact Pitts at joshp@co.marshall.in.us.
