2. What are some duties and responsibilities?
as the Business Manager I handle all financial transactions. I am also in charge of Human Resources.
3. What’s it like working for a news
Very rewarding. We have an amazing staff at the Pilot News. the paper allows us to stay in contact with community business owners, community events, school news and so much more.
4. Why is it important for people to read the newspaper? Real, local, accurate news can be found in the newspaper. Newspaper stories are more detailed than most radio or web stories, many internet websites leave doubt as to what is real and what is fiction. the newspaper is like a diary of what has happened in your community. It allows people to collect and save articles, events and photos for future generations.
1. When did you start working for the Pilot News Group?
January 2004
2. What are some of your duties and responsibilities?
Advertising sales, marketing plans for each account, help in ad layout, answer questions and concerns for companies that don’t know where to start for advertising. We encompass all different types of advertising: internet, print, direct mail pieces, flyers, vinyl banners, etc. Some times our customers see us as “just” newspaper print advertising. We offer a wide array of marketing options. We can come up with a plan for any type of budget.
3. What’s it like working for a newspaper? There’s always something new! That is one of the best parts of working for a newspaper. It is always changing, and so we change with the times. I really enjoy working with others that I truly like and have become like family to me. We are a team. Not always easy, like anything in life, but we make it work. I am so thankful that Cindy Stockton hired me so many years ago.
4. Why is it important for people to read the newspaper?
Local newspapers are important for your community to feel unity, support your local businesses that support your kids school activities and events, local organizations supporting a cause and getting together to help build up our own communities to survive. Reading your local newspaper gets you involved with the community more than anything else. It is a trusted news source that matters to your local towns and families.
