Boys and Girls Club closed until Oct. 22
Positive COVID19 member prompts closing
The Marshall County Boys and Girls Club released the following statement yesterday afternoon:
Attention parents and community:
Unfortunately one of our members tested positive for COVID-19 this week. Other members were exposed to this situation earlier in the week. Our protocol requires us to contact the Marshall County Health Department to walk through the next steps in order keep everyone safe. The decison was made to inform all parents of members who attended earlier this week that they would need to quarantine their children for the next 14 days. A majority of our staff were also exposed to this situation. Therefore, the decison had to be made to close the Club until Oct. 22 due to all those who were exposed. We really wish we had a better solution but our protocol is to put safety first and we decided this was the best option at this time.
We also immediatley contacted the superintendent of Plymouth Community Schools to let him know we were informing all parents of our children that they needed to be quarantined for the next 14 days. Together, working with the health department and the local community schools, this was the safest and best decision for us at this time.
Health Resources:
We care about our club families, so please continue to follow CDC and local health recommendations to prevent possible exposure or spread of COVID- 19. Our local hotline number to assist you is 574-335-8560 or you can call the United Way Resource Number – 211. These are free.
Sincerely,
Andrew Fitzpatrick CEO
