MORE THANKS & SOME CONGRATS

I try my best to keep up with acknowledging the many volunteers that keep this Plymouth rock rolling!

The PLYMOUTH PARK BOARD has been led by President DAVE MORROW for several years now. Other members include ADAM LUKENBILL, CAYLA SHARP, ALEX EADS, MIKE KERSHNER AND LAURA MANN. The board assists Park Manager MIKE HITE with anything & everything pertaining to one of the greatest municipal park systems in Indiana. From adding River Park Square in 2014, Freedom Park at Packard Woods, the Greenway Trail, the kayak launch last year and of course working with the Marshall County Blueberry Festival Board, these ladies and gentlemen need to be commended for a job well done! The Plymouth Park & Recreation Board meet the first Monday of the month 5PM at the Conservation Clubhouse. The public is welcome.

Speaking of Parks & Rec, we recently lost long-time Pool & Activities Director ALLIE SHOOK who went to work in the private sector. Allie did an awesome job balancing bus tours, preparing and organizing holiday festivals such as the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Haunted Grounds as well as managing the Plymouth Public Pool and many other activities. Allie led the charge for the new kayak launch at RPS and her leadership was truly appreciated. Allie has also been president of the Discover Plymouth Main Street organization for several years. Thank you, Allie, for a job well done and good luck in all your new endeavors!

Replacing Allie is ABBY COLLINS. Abby started her new position this week and I am confident that this job was made for her! Abby recently resigned her position as Deputy Clerk-treasurer working for Clerk-treasurer Jeanine Xaver. Abby began working for The City in November of 2014 and knew that office well. She had her hand in many aspects of the Clerk’s Office. Abby and husband Joe live in Plymouth with their two children Everly and Roman. Congrats and good luck, Abby!

Well, unfortunately Saturday is the last PLYMOUTH FARMER’S MARKET of the season. So, come on out and get your late summer goodies as well as all the colorful fall frills! As usual, thank you to Market Manager TOM KEB for keeping things running so smoothly. He and his committee have been doing this now for 14 years…that’s a lot of fruits & vegetables, jellies & jams, pickles & peppers and of course Las Palmas’ Biscuits & Gravy!

Next week a decision will be made about having the Christmas Tree Lighting & Parade on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. So many things missed and cancelled this year. I gave my 2020 State of The City address on March 9th with so much promise of another great year for Plymouth. Well, God had other plans and we had to adhere to many changes for several reasons. Let us hope & pray that ’21 will be better!

Have a great October and “keep smiling!’”

-Mayor Mark
