Programs continue to enhance the lives of JCAP participants
MARSHALL COUNTY — Director of Programs at Marshall County Jail Joshua Pitts is pleased with the progress being made by and for participants in the Jail Chemical Addictions Program (JCAP). Pitts said, “I get the opportunity to see the positivity these men exude on a daily basis and it is rewarding to interact with them and see them open up about wanting a better life.”
Recently, David Hite and Joseph Ladd successfully completed Moral Reconation Therapy ( MRT) and Substance Abuse Group Classes.
Hite said, “I am working toward bettering myself for me and for my family. I want to live a sober life and be a great father because my kids deserve that.”
“I am thankful that I got another chance at life regardless of the time I
have to serve. The opportunity to learn from the classes that Marshall County Jail has to offer gave me the tools I have been missing to stay sober and become a better father and a better person within my community.” said Ladd.
Several JCAP participants have enjoyed the art classes brought to them through collaboration with the Heartland Artist Gallery. Instructors Jon Miller and Chrissy Miller have facilitated several art classes, teaching participants how to express themselves through artistic mediums. Pitts said,
“They are doing so good and the instructors are amazing.”
Pitts is still reaching out to the community to enhance programming opportunities for participants of the JCAP program. He has also been collecting information for resources to assist family members of those who are being confined to help them provide for themselves and their children. Individuals, churches and organizations willing to help enrich the lives of those who are recovering and their loved ones should contact Pitts at joshp@co.marshall.in.us.
