While the focus is on parents with an addicted child, all family members and friends are welcome to attend PAL meetings.

Renell Finke, a Purdue Extension Nutrition Education Program Assistant, will share information on the many spices commonly available and how they can be used to enhance your meals. She will also share a recipe for a healthy homemade taco seasoning mix. Hopefully this knowledge will help you kick the salt habit! • Hope for Hurting Hearts is a one day grief retreat that will be held at Parkside Community Church in Argos located at 225 S. Michigan St. The event was designed to focus on healing from the loss of a loved one from a faith based perspective. The deadline to register is Oct. 24. The registration fee is $25 to cover the cost of lunch and supplies. Arrival time is 8:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. The program begins at 9 a.m. and will conclude at 3 p.m. The event includes speakers, grief exercises, and small group interaction. •Nutrition and physical activity are keys to managing your type 2 diabetes. But where do you start? The Dining with Diabetes program can help! Dining with Diabetes consists of four sessions (Nov. 10, 17, 24 & Dec. 1) and a reunion. Adults with type 2 diabetes (or who are at risk) are invited to participate.
